And that's ignoring massive blood loss due to other issues, postpartum depression... all the more likely due to the less than stellar conditions, passed up economic opprotunities due to raising a child under outrageous expenses, as well as more psychological issues. Imagine a married man having to come to terms with having to raise a child that isn't his... or a single mother having to face the reality of raising a child on her own? Even giving up a child isn't going to be as nice and rosy as you paint it.

Take away safe abortion, women will opt for unsafe abortion (not "hundred to thousands", hundreds of thousands to millions). Women used to be arrested in the UK, tried and fined and jailed. Did it stop anything? No, because another mouth you can't feed is more frightening and bearing a baby as a result of rape is more horrendous than any sentence.

Currently, millions of women (56% of all abortions) have abortions that are unsafe, with 31,000 women dying each year.

Women already risk death to have a necessary abortion. And the OP really, really thinks that the death penalty will stop anything.

A desperate woman will run any risk. And no emotional argument will make any difference.

And, who will turn her in? The doctor who performed it? Her family, who helped her find the doctor? The hospital she goes to when she's running a fever (the same ones who used to pass off every abortion as a natural miscarriage or anything other than abortion where it could possibly be contested)? The neighbours (who often knew who the abortionist was, and kept quiet, in case they ever needed her)?

This dystopian fantasy could never work. And thank God for that.
