This Be The Verse
Philip Larkin

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

In Wahhabism and sects influenced by it? Perhaps not. In the rest of Islam? They generally are.

In Shinto, they were explicitly religious during World War II, at least so far as anything could be in Shinto. The term means "divine wind." That doesn't strike me as profoundly atheistic.

The units were officially called the Tokubetsu Kōgekitai (Special Attack Force). While their unofficial name had some religious undertones, a quick overview would reveal that their religious beliefs differed depending on the pilot. Some absolutely believed in the existence of deities, others were Buddhist, Christian, or even atheist, their motivations for the attacks were equally diverse. In their letters, whenever Shintō beliefs are brought up, it is normally in the belief their spirits will remain in Yasukuni and their loved ones will be able to visit them, rather than supporting the kind of holy war you see in Wahabhism.

After today at work, I can officially say that one of the worst things in the world is when people clog public toilets.

With both number one and number two.

And you’re the one who’s stuck unclogging it.

And then you have to clean the toilet because there’s crap on the seat.

And the whole time you’re gagging and trying not to pass out.

I don't like a lot of things, but here's the top of the list:

A long tooth extraction when the anesthesia didn't kick in too well.
Having to file out papers.
Dipshits who beep their horns in slow traffic even if that won't change anything. And I say this because of their actions.

...If I had to pick, it'd be the tooth extraction gone wrong...

If we're going off of historical events, then remember that you're living in a world in which Tamerlane killed millions of innocent people, and An Lushan's treachery claimed as much as a sixth of the world's population at the time.

But sure, the torpedo thing was the worst, I guess.

Genghis Khan would technically be the worst if we're going by death counts as he also introduced the plagues and killing millions multiple times.

I put the revolutions of 1919 as the consequences of it directly led to WWII.

That's actually quite disputable. Both in terms of total death count and in terms of the proportion of the global population who died, there have likely been greater catastrophes. It's hard to say for sure because nobody knows exactly how many people Genghis killed. Estimates vary wildly, and depend on whether you include things like the Plague, which the Mongols contributed to spreading (not Genghis mind you, he was dead), but definitely didn't cause. Even in Kaffa where they attempted to spread it deliberately, it is more likely that the rats already in the holds of Black Sea ships are what actually did the trick.

Estimates of the An Lushan Rebellion vary wildly as well, but the high end estimates are actually higher then the Mongol conquests, proportionally speaking. The reason why I included it, however, was that it was caused by treachery. Which makes it abundantly clear how pathetically small the U.S.S Liberty attack is, even if both the Israeli and U.S. governments hadn't concluded that the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity.

I put the revolutions of 1919 as the consequences of it directly led to WWII.

Lots of things led to WWII. The stuff that you seem to focus on paints a very clear portrait about you.

No. Happiness isn't necessarily good. Happiness is a feeling. If you feel happy because you're drugged into happiness while being raped, it isn't good.

California
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!
