Winter Olympics are held in February however, so there's an 8 month gap between the WC and the WO. Which is more than the current gap of course, of just 5 months.

Although I don't envisage many people would place triathlon and bobsleigh above good old football.

I just can't get over the fact that beer will get replaced by hot wine and hot chocolate. ew.

I've checked, and that was the first-ever own goal in a World Cup final.

José Parra of Spain did score an own goal against Brazil in the unique 1950 final round group stage, but Mandžukić's goal is the only own goal in the actual final.

No they won't.

Qatar has already announced that it will relax the law on public drinking - at the requirement of FIFA - to allow alcohol to be served in the stadiums and in dedicated fan zones.

I've previously worked in Qatar, for what it's worth.

That was a crazy-long goal, and I think it looked beautiful. France needs to ratchet up the pressure on Croatia, otherwise they'll keep their energy and run you riot.
