I don't know where people get the weird idea that corporations are darlings of fascism.

Because fascist parties explicitly endorsed corporatism.

Right. Not corporations, corporatism (like syndicalism).

The Parkus Empire wrote:A word which is used quite frequently, but with different definitions by different users. Some people will use it very narrowly, others will say it includes leaders such as Franco and Dollfuss, and yet others will expand it so much to include the Soviet Union (which I frankly find ridiculous, as the Soviet Union was highly meritocratic and had an unprecedented degree of racial and gender equality, especially for the 1920's).

So what are the criteria of fascism? Feel free to post yours, but here are mine.

1. Totalitarian (not simply authoritarian).
2. Extremely socially conservative, with the caveat that the bond to the state is held to precede all the familial, communal and religious bonds, rather than the reverse.
3. Economically conservative (as opposed to liberal, or socialist).
4. Militaristic

I would say:

>corporatism or syndicalist economic system
>palingenetic ultranationalism
>totalitarianism
>extreme militarism and glorification of violence

I had to do a bit of a double-take with you because of your new flag. Been a while since you've had a Commie one. xP

A corporatist body is called a corporation.

I've got this one to commemorate Victory Day.

Urgh, the language surrounding this is confusing. We're probably using different definitions.

A nation can only be fascist if it endorses corporatism, otherwise it's just a nationalist and authoritarian dictatorship.

They're not fascist, especially not anarchists.

Considering the difficulty poli scientists have in defining it, I'm not sure we'll be very successful.

I think one thing we should take away from it is is that traits normally associated with it can occur in any liberal democracy if the circumstances are right, that to varying degrees, every country has "fascist" tendencies.

A conservative authoritarian dictatorship, built on militarism and a need to defeat an enemy that threatens people, usually a perceived threat such as a political group gaining power. It focuses heavily on rebuilding the core values of society by claiming it is going back on that nations tradition.

Fascism is a hard thing to categorize nations under because its criteria, I believe, is very loose. Fascism, coming from fascio, in Italian meaning a bundle of sticks, hence its symbol in Italy.

Fascism, politically, centers on the people working together for the will of the state under a single leader or party with a sense of nationalist. Individually we are weak, but together we form a mighty faggot.

That definition is vague, but that's because facsism itself is vague. It's like the top layer of of clothing out of many. It seems like a single thing on top, but beneath there could be much more. The social aspects of it vary from country to country, but mostly follow the same steps: A focus on family, family values, and appropriate roles of the family in society

In all honesty though, id say one of the more fascist presidents we had in modern history would probably be Barack Hussein Obama.
