We're talking the poorest developing countries where they do not have the privilege of unions or workhour limits. They likely work many times more and harder than any CEO. Workers in the west are under a boot, but at least we're still somewhat unionised meanwhile Coka Cola sends death squads to murder union leaders in SA.

let's say a genius is born, but because they are born in an extremely poor country with little infrastructure they never get the chance to go to school or open a business or invent anything.

Bezos was born on a teenage family, his mom wasn't even 20. Intelligent people know how to get their way through, regardless of initial conditions.

Most of the fucked up developing countries have an excessively interventionist government. South America is a notable example, and so is Africa with their leaders actively seizing private property from people they don't like or that disagree with their populist policies.Kvatchdom wrote:They likely work many times more and harder than any CEO.
100, 120 hours at most. Just as much as a CEO.Kvatchdom wrote:Workers in the west are under a boot, but at least we're still somewhat unionised
Most of worktime reduction happened to be not tightly related to unions, and unionization impact on wages are merely short-lived, proven by data tracking over the last 70+ years in the US and UK.

Isn't social mobility the thing that matters though? Also, concentration of political power under a small government that does little meddling on the society doesn't seem to be harmful at all (implying this would happen anyways, since bigger government is where politicians get to milk votes from).
