Animal Farm is a pretty stupid book. Not its point, but its obnoxiously stupid method of satire, "they're animals so it's witty!" Zamyatin's satire was so much better.

State socialists are not friends of the workers. They wish to replace the central authority that steals their profits for itself with a different central authority that steals their profits for itself.

I am not sure you can even be considered proper socialists rather than state capitalists who, at the most charitable, are also social democrats, and at worst, CEOs with a tank fetish rather than a private jet fetish.

Counterrevolutionaries like it because communist revolutionaries tend to become authoritarian assholes who are just as bad, if not worse, than the prior regime. That's the point of the book, and he's completely right. Just look at the USSR compared to the short-lived Republic and the long-lasting Tsardom.

The fact that Orwell was anti-Soviet did not make him a fascist sympathizer. If you believe that, produce some evidence of his support for fascism. However, I can make it easy on you. You won't find any such evidence of his support for Mussolini.

I was also anti-Soviet, and had been anti-Soviet since 1968, but I am a libertarian communist and Antifa (antifascist).
