What I said is true for most colleges and universities in the U.S. Yes, some fields tend to attract Leftists (post-1968 sociology in particular), but most of American academia is rather conservative.

I love sociology. It is a great field of study. I wish most of academia had as many leftists (particularly libertarian communists as someone else pointed out).

History varies. It depends on the department. With economics, only a tiny number are not proponents of classical economics (laissez-faire capitalism). Psychology departments were, in the 1970s, heading in a leftward direction, but most, since the 1980s, are not dominated by behaviorists.

More educated people tend to be more tolerant and more left of center than the general population (based on polling and survey data).

Um, what?? The vast majority of my professors in a state that Trump won by 20 points have been liberal or moderate.

Social science (with the exception of economics, for instance) and humanities professors are more likely to be liberal or moderate, as you say, than professors in the agricultural schools. However, overall, the popular stereotype of the leftist professor was, it seems to me, made by someone who was not an academic.

Every ideologue must come to terms with the fact that most people on their side will never be as rigorous as they are, regardless of what ideology they follow. But sure, you leftists are the exception; I am sure you will all be brilliant academic warriors fighting for The Party. =^)

No, education does not make a person more left-wing. It is just that Leftists are trying to maintain absolute control over humanities and social science faculties at the expense of conservative intellectuals and replace education with indoctrination.

In my field (sociology), we call what right-wingers misinterpret as indoctrination critical pedagogy (after Paulo Freire). The intent is not to indoctrinate people but to make them aware of the social and economic inequality and to encourage them to become part of the solution. That does not take away their free agency.

In my classes, for instance, I allow all views to be expressed, except for those that violate college policies. For instance, I recently had to remove a student who viciously attacked Blacks in one of my classes. We do not allow that kind of behavior (nor, I suspect, would almost any other college or university).
