I mean, given the fact that I'm terrified of my own mortality and I haven't found my way back to religion yet, it sounds alright.
I've actually been thinking for a while about the long, long, long, loooooooooooong term implications of transhumanism. Like, what it's gonna be like millions or billions of years from now when transhumanist advances have delivered us immortality, and technology grants us full control over the rest of existence on every level? What if we could, conceivably, make ourselves and the universe truly eternal? What would that do to our minds in the long run?

But I wouldn’t assume every fascist is pro mass murder. You don’t like others assuming your beliefs, and I don’t either. Not all communists are Stalin, not all fascists are Hitler, etc.

I really doubt that the universe could be made eternal unless we become so technologically advanced that we can transcend reality, and I don't know that I want to live in that world.

What a plot twist that would be, though. Humanity becomes the sort of interdimensional Eldritch abomination we wrote so many horror stories about.
But seriously, assuming that at no point we get annihilated by nature, or annihilate ourselves like a bunch of jackasses, we have billions of years ahead of us to go crazy with science and technology.

Oh I don't assume that of fascists, but I do assume it for nazis and neo nazis, because that's what their ideology is about.

That’s probably the most insightful thing I’ve heard about this topic. You’re not like others, misusing political ideologies as meaningless slander.

Eh, I'm pretty sure we're going to die out within the next several hundred years, maybe a thousand if we're lucky. Plus, there is a natural limit to how far science can go.

Ah. Climate change implies the first, though I think carbon capture and storage technology may be our savior. If we can get past that obstacle, there are other potential dangers -- if the last remaining humans are on Mars, a mass extinction event like an asteroid could occur and end our species; if we continue on our scientific path and create an AI too powerful, it could choose to annihilate humanity; etc.
As for the second, it's taking the simplest solution when evidence cannot prove or disprove whether humans can actually completely escape the laws of physics through technology.
