Oh yes, imminently familiar, I did my masters thesis on dada. I assume you mean the L.H.O.O.Q, yes?

Maybe I'd prefer to read the Dialogues, but maybe others do not. It's not my place to make that decision for them.
Besides, ain't you the one saying the "avant-garde" is shitty?

It's my opinion. Also, you are making out non-fiction and fiction to be the same. Sure, nonfiction might be necessary to learn, but a fiction book isn't, and one you like cannot be compared in importance to one you dislike.

Attitude? I'm merely asking which work in question you find so profane. I assumed it was the L.H.O.O.Q, because folks often have a very strong reaction to it. Was this an incorrect line of reasoning? I should like to know how, so I do not repeat my error.Conservative Feminism wrote:Kubra wrote: Oh yes, imminently familiar, I did my masters thesis on dada. I assume you mean the L.H.O.O.Q, yes?
Not sure why you decided to present such an attitude to my comment in the first place when it was completely unnessesary. Anyway, you dug your hole so I'll leave you to s(h)it in it, something for which the work of art in question would certainly not suffice.

they are plays of people discussing philosophy and occasionally fucking each other
those discussions didn't happen in rl
even the apology was just based off a true story, chances are there was a lot of artistic license taken. Less so than Xenophon, but hey, it is what it is.

There's levels of what you could consider important, but it's all subjective, so let an apathetic emo teen who reads Twilight be an apathetic emo teen who reads Twilight, and read what you want. Those things don't conflict.

Reading what others have wrote on subjects and listening to what they say on subjects is how we come to new ideas on subjects, bub. Collective knowledge doesn't exist. There is only individual knowledge. You can choose not to interact with such types if you want to, but don't ruin their fun.

Yeah sorry, I misread your post. I meant the urinal, in order to catch the other artwork in case of an emergency.

The next question is, well, what exactly do you find a problem with it? Why is it the problematic piece, as opposed to other readymades of his?

I don't have a problem with it at all, I actually appreciate the wit, I have a problem with this work of art of a bottle of urine with a cross in it because it seems extremely try hard and in poor taste, and think it would be rather fitting and humorous if it were hung above the fountain at an exhibition and fell into it.

It seems to be more of a political statement and an attempt to create drama than an honest attempt explore the idea of what art is and society's relationship to it. It's extremely overstated as well.

The less there are, the less there are folks to read, be lectured, and subsequently less to write and lecture.

An engineer goes to academia. A fair amount of enterpreneur's go to "business school". Artists, you can guess.
