Admirer of the Ottoman Empire here. I also don't disdain the Almohads.

Among European monarchies, I most admire the Austrian Empire, especially for its role of battling the liberal and nationalist cancer during the 19th and 20th centuries.

This is an actual thing, the Hittite, Egyptian, Assyrian, and Mycenean civilizations are all centrally planned economies.

Which is also thought to have been the reason for why the Bronze Age Collapse was as disastrous as it was. Because once famine and rebellions and wars started breaking the links in the chain, things went downhill fast.

IMHO, the monarchy that was 'most pointlessly' deposed was the either the Portuguese monarchy or the Brazilian monarchy. I would love to see both restored and with the turmoil in Brazil, it's probably far more likely than an honest politician being elected to the presidency.

I'd also very much like to see the monarchies of Romania and Serbia restored. Since King Michael's death, however, I think that's increasingly unlikely.

Apart from Spain in 1978, has there ever been a successful restoration of a monarchy in the 20th or 21st centuries?

I absolutely agree with you in the case of Pedro II of Brazil. Speaking of restoration, Georgians are taking an interest in reviving a monarchy in their nation.

Cambodia in 1993 restored its monarchy. Kuwait's monarchy was deposed after Iraq's invasion 1990 and was restored once Kuwait was liberated.

At certain points in its history, Ancient Egypt would fit the definition of a highly centralised monarchy, but at other points in its history it was a decentralised or even disunited state. Nothing is stable across 3000 years. And whatever it was, a state ruled by an elitist circle in support of a god-emperor certainly wasn't 'communist'.

The Hittite state similarly went through periods which modern historiography calls, for convenience, 'old', 'middle', and 'new'. Again, the form of state control changes over time, but I doubt you'd find any specialist in Hittite history who'd be willing to characterise the middle Hittite period as strong, stable, or in any way 'centrally planned'.

-I chose “semi-constitutional”
-Monarch must retain at the very least the same level of executive power as the US President if not more
-Monarchy should be hereditary
-Parliament is a good idea so long as it is legislative and does not compete for power
-Voting should be restricted by IQ or landowning status

^ Also by the time that most 'functional democracy's' emerged agricultural technology should take more of the glory there than a democracy. I think the only real famines in the modern era occurred in the Third World and Communist nations, though I could be wrong there.
