You mean when it was adopted as the state-religion.

No, I mean under Constantine. Christianity becoming the state religion was of course an extension of that, since the idea of a "secular state" didn't exist then. It was a question over whether Christianity or paganism would get the position, and since each was extremely hostile to the other, of course Christianity sought to secure itself.

This means we can use the word, just not in a bad way. So don't punish anyone who uses kafir.

Can any religion be apolitical? I don't ask this as a rhetorical question, rather a philosophical one.

I would sincerely question if ANYTHING can really be apolitical, religion as institution is imo simply too much a far of human society to NOT be attached to politics in some way.

American Evangelicals are pretty much Trump's only solid base nowadays and they are making Christians look really bad by comparison.
I mean if you WANT to be associated with an administration that tears families apart then don't be surprised when people who actually care about families get sick of it.

As an atheist I suppose I like the long-term effect but I would much rather it not come at the expense of human welfare to this disgusting extent.
It makes it not worth it.

Tearing families apart during incarceration was always common

Eh, Evangelicals, working class who are being disenfranchised by the lefts pivoting from working class aiding policy into ramming in greater competition which worsens their general lot, and empowers the employers to give shittier deals. Though the real swing was really that never Hillary's would outweight never Trumpers at the end of the day. Though if the Republicans act a bit swift on their feat and pick up the working class, it'll be all over for the Dems even with the demographic changes.

As someone who's step-father is in prison right now you have no idea what you're babbling about.

Christians, like any group ever, want politics that favor them. That doesn't make them insincere in their religion, or make the religion only about winning materially.

Of course I'm sure you're going to continue your edgy teenager 'revelations' regardless.
