Maybe, I can't say for sure. But that doesn't mean it hasn't played a tremendous role in Japanese philosophy, politics, and religion. One of the most well known titles for the Emperor, Tennō, comes directly from Confucianism. Though considering that Confucianism tended to represent positivism, rationalism, and naturalism around the 19th century, I'm surprised you're championing it this much.

But, that aside, the Japanese Army during events such as the Boxer Rebellion, Russo-Japanese War, and World War 1 were very chivalrous and markedly restrained in contrast to the good Christian Europeans who liked to indulge in rape and massacres of the inferior Asiatic populace. The Japanese atrocities in WW2 have their basis in the radicalization of the army in the 1930's and the brutalization of military training which resulted in troops being eager to take out their frustrations on the helpless populace and believing that brutality = respect.

Although no stranger to pride or to the desire for political power, particularly in her youth, she was amongst the longest-lived and wisest of all the elves in Middle Earth and had the good sense to distrust Sauron when he came to the elves in the guise of Annatar, the "Lord of Gifts." In the Third Age, her will was strong enough to resist the allure of the One Ring, even when offered freely to her.
