They mock phrases like "parent A" and "parent B" in much the same way they mock other gender-neutral phrases; as if motherhood and fatherhood were inherently different even in the adoptive context. They run ads like "where's your mommy," as if males were incapable of caring for their children, yet object even to lesbians; the more widely accepted category of homosexual; adopting, based on the idea that the child "needs a male influence."

The same way you would not allow your child to be left handed. By liberally beating it until you condition it to constantly deny its nature and act as if it isn't what it is.

People did this all the time with all sorts of things ranging from homosexuality to wrong handedness, atheism etc. You can train a human like you do a dog. It's not nice. But you can do it.

I seriously doubt any respectable adoption agency would allow someone capable of such abuse to adopt.

If they did, they need to be shut down.

Obviously socially conservative homophobes tend to also have strong beliefs about gender roles. I don't see how you can conclude from that that their real objection to homosexual adoption is fear that the world will learn that men can learn how to change nappies, or whatever.

Remember, there is no external way to through observation determine a difference between a person who genuinely possesses a trait and one who has been trained to behave as if they posses a trait. The difference is entirely internal and unnoticeable for as long as the person maintains the facade.

And we humans are very good at taking things at face value, especially when we want to believe them to be true. That's how you get ideas like bleach enemas as a cure for autism.
