Mine is red and white, I get all the toys. If I had a samba I’d be set for life.

Here's an idea I, at least, find interesting.

What was your first car, what did you like/dislike about it, and what happened to it?

Mine was a 1964 VW Bus, white. I loved the room, and the comradeship among bus owners back then (1970); I hated the lack of power (it once made 60 mph going downhill) and the heater (such as there was. After a 300 mike trip in the winter the windshield and the front side windows were defrosted, nothing else.) After one too many of the 300 mile trips from college to home and back, the engine blew out for the second time and it was not really worth putting in another one.

The 2007 1.4 diesel Corolla I'm likely going to have as my 1st car:
- Like - great fuel economy, reliability.
- Dislike - lack of steering feel, too little power for highways, loudness, rust is coming for it.

Although my dad is buying an older SUV (very likely a 1st gen CR-V, as in "he's soon going to test drive one"), so I'm probably also gonna have access to one of these.

1999 Mercedes Benz C280.

I liked how it drove, looked nice, decent MPG, and was a good car overall. The mirror pods were held by duct tape, it was lowered a bit to the point where I often bottomed out in some places, not stanced, just lowered enough where I couldn't get over a small pile of snow when I shoveled, and its rust problems made me stop driving, it's sitting in a garage at my parent's house on three wheels since I couldn't put it back together. It still works, as long it gets reassembled in the front right chassis.

I would get another one but an AMG version and from somewhere that doesn't have rusty cars. A lot of German and Japanese cars from the 90s and 2000s seem to have rust proofing issues that don't hold up well in the Northern US.

Imagine it's 1941. You are a rancher from Wyoming, looking for a station wagon for your family of 7. You want a well-built, reliable family vehicle. The choices in your budget are:
- Packard 110,
- Pontiac Custom Torpedo,
- Oldsmobile Series 66,
- Mercury Eight,
- Chrysler Royal.

Which one would you buy? I'd get the Packard.

First car I had access to: 2.8l GMC S-15 Jimmy. It had chrome wheels and glasspacks, so it looked kinda cool and sounded kinda cool but man was it a wimp. And super plastic. The interior didn't really last.

Car that was mine all mine: 1977 Chevy Malibu Classic. You know it as Lloyd Dober's car in Say Anything. Except mine was yellow. Compared to the Jimmy it was a powerhouse though you could still time it to sixty with an egg timer. Fun to teach myself Dukes of Hazzard tricks in the abandoned mobile home park outside of town. Thirsty motherfucker and ugly as all get out.

97 Ford Escort in black. Fairly decent first car, but it wasn't that easy on gas, clear coat was gone from the top of the car, and it was formerly used by a smoker. Car was sold to some guy who promptly crashed it. I saw that very same car in a junkyard just a few weeks later. That was surreal.
Eternally salty, quite tired, and perhaps looking for a brighter future.

I'm going to come into possession of a ran-when-parked 1988 Dodge Ramcharger 4WD sometime in the next few months. Pray for my tetanus shots, my bank account and my soul.

I don't even have a driving licence yet, still taking lessons and will be having my test during October.

I would like to ask what car did you learn to drive in? For me it is a Volkswagen Golf SV 1.6 TDI.
