Here's the only part anyone gives a shit about
I joke that I'm such a McQueen fan I actually remember the plot to Bullitt.

This includes the preamble. The high revving action begins around 3:15.

For funzies as someone who has watched that chase a lot here are some games you can play:
Count the number of times they pass that green Beetle or white Firebird.

Count the number of hubcaps that fall off the Charger.

If you're familiar with San Francisco, count the warp tubes they go through to jump through town.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

LOL!

I didn't notice that they passed the Bug and Firebird a lot, but thought I was just seeing things. I have to rewatch it now lol.

Taking it one step further, count how many movies of the era have that same green bug in the background of chase/street scenes.

They didn't, really. They sent a letter to dealers apologizing and that got leaked.

Tesla is basically a tech company that happens to make cars, maybe more will follow. The original Tesla roadster was a Lotus Elise with a bunch of batteries.

I use my car both as a personal and work vehicle, that's the gig economy for you. A lot of riders like my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Like Rivian. Or Cruise. Or Fisker (the new Fisker, not the old Fisker). Or Sony. Or Lightning. Or Sono Motors. Or Lordstown. Or Dyson (well, almost) (also, yeah, that Dyson). Honestly the time it would take to list all the electric car start ups ten more would release prototypes while ten others would quietly fade away. Tesla so far is the only one to actually get their car all the way to market and sell enough to have a second model.

As established manufacturers take the field, with VW aiming for 1 million electrics by 2023, vehicles like the Mach E, it will be harder for start up electric car companies unless they're only kind of start ups, like Rivian and Lordstown that are supported by Ford and Chevy or Cruise that's a co-op between GM and Honda. Or Sony that's not a start up by any stretch of the imagination but it's still not clear why they thought a concept car was a cool idea.

Currently electrics make up 2% of the market, but adding an electric is a good way to bring up the average CO2 and fuel consumption averages so more and more manufacturers are adding at least one so they can sell SUVs and the like without penalties. The next couple of years will tell the tale. There will be a full set of options for electric cars, if they sell that's it. That's the future. If not, roll again.

You ride share in a Grand Marquis? How do you even break even with fuel costs?

It is not.

So the Rivian has a sensors that detect the 'softness' of the ground underneath it and only enable 'tank turn mode' in sufficiently slippery conditions.

Which someone has to disable at some point to create a smokey filled Sideshow win that ends on rims.

Apparently Ford is looking at using Rivian to help it build its SUVs. I would think it more likely Ford buys them out over them becoming independently successful. But that would be okay.

GM is doing the same thing with Lordstown. It's not an uncommon strategy, apparently rather than develop in house they're just investing in the company closest to what they're trying to do and if it works, absorb them and if it doesn't, eh.

Yes, much lower risk. If it does not work the start up can just go bankrupt and be replaced, and if it succeeds that can buy it out. Not a bad business strategy.

I live in the suburbs so I get a lot of highways, and honestly, this is just a part-time gig, along with my freelance writing.

It's Porsche Porsche BMW and Porsche Acura BMW in GTLM and GTD at the 24 hours of Daytona. The Corvette is in 4th and last. Cadillac leads Daytona Prototypes and honestly I never know whats going on in LMP2.

Also Track Pass is surreal.

EDIT: A wheel got stuck on a BMW in the pits, watching the tire guy crank away impotently on the wheel was painful.

I work as an electrician, plumber, and HVAC technician. I often have to haul large and heavy loads which is perfect for my F-350 dually. However, the truck is 19 years old and is not very fuel efficient, so I try to limit its use as much as possible. That's where my relatively new and more fuel efficient Escape comes in :)

Bah, BMW wins GTLM at the 24hrs of Daytona. In an old car. The lead Corvette finished 4th.

Lambos went 1 and 2 in GTD.

Distance record.

Track Pass. There's no ads, they just stop talking to you for a few minutes at a time periodically.

I had IMSA radio going alongside because their commentary is better.

Considering the quality of much of the racing commentary, having them stop talking periodically would be a benefit.
