Only marques I'd be betting on to survive are Jeep and Ram. There's a good chance one of the PSA brands will go and that most of FCA will be so pigeon-holed into what they can make that they'll effectively be disappeared from the market.

They've already said they don't plan on axing any brands. But they did axe the new 8C and GTV, so meeeeeeeeeeeeeeh.

You are saying Dodge, Jeep, and RAM should vanish?

What should be the headline is that Ford has come out with a CUV that posts Tesla Model X numbers for half the price of a Tesla.

But instead it's "Why in all the fucks did you guys call that thing a Mustang?"

I agree. It actually looks like pretty nice vehicle, but Ford has tons of cool old names they could use for it.

And because they will continue to make the Coupe (Real) Mustang it is just confusing to have two different vehicles with the same name.

I can't remember which article I read about it but one made the prediction that I agree with that in a model year or two we'll see the Mustang part quietly dropped and it will just be the Mach E.

Completely unimportant but I have a cat named Mach, and sometimes call him Machy. The name still sounds silly.

Alpine is owned by Renault and that is reminding me of British Leyland.

I don't see how that would work, Peugeot, Citroen to some extent, and Opel compete for the same market demographics and have overlapping models. And if Opel was doing well, it'd still be part of General Motors. European market conditions are pushing traditional middle range brands out of the market segments they once dominated, either with cheaper brands selling higher spec models for less, or more expensive brands introducing more basic trim levels.

I'd think Chrysler at this stage is being kept around purely because of its historical significance, certainly it's not really relevant in North America anymore.
