The Tahoe itself is short for a truck, my car is longer than it.

It's basically the same length as a regular cab pickup with a short bed.

Though to be fair, my car was one of the longest cars made by the Lincoln-Mercury division.

The cargo space with the seats up is very minimal, the Tahoe can do people and stuff, just not at the same time. My grandparents had one, and you know what's funny, the GMC Envoy XL was better at doing 7 people and some luggage.

I’m on a Lemons rally team, it’s been pretty cool so far.

Which is why they make the Suburban, which is just an extended Tahoe. They have the same thing power plant and drive train.

It was fun. The winner was undisputed, a dude soloing in a Hudson Hornet who adopted at Yugo during the rally, following it around and even carrying parts for it. Between being in the oldest car in the rally and having a theme and spending most of his rally making sure another car made it to the end he just ran away with the points. And he was the nicest guy. It was fun. If I never see another summit again, I'll be fine.

Hudson? Is there an $500 limit?

There's no price limit for the rally. But they give you points at the beginning for general hooptiness. So if your car was made in the 50s, you get like 200 points (the most valuable checkpoint is 50, most are 10-25), if your car was made by a Warsaw nation (the Yugo) you get 250 points. You get points for theme and basically whatever else they feel like because nothing is at stake except a shitty trophy. So the Hudson started out 600 some points ahead and then scored a boatload of points because it adopted the Yugo and helped it finish.

I'd rather not say what team I was on because I'm not 100% certain you can't figure out who I am from that and there are too many people with their heads waaaaaay up their ass about shit on NSG for me to want that out there. Not necessarily in this thread, but others, some people have demonstrated a dedication to being shitty.

Well, I guessed that Warsaw Pact Yugo thing ended up being a nice bluff, because Yugoslavia was not in the WP by the time the Yugo was made.

On a sidenote, I was in Macedonia a few days ago, and many Yugos and Zastavas are still on the road there. Mostly 80s models, 70s stuff is mainly seen in backyards or junkyards.

You're assigning waaaaaaay more seriousness to the rules that also include "being a douchenozzle -100-900 points" than is intended. The time and date treaties were signed is not even slightly the point.

Surprisingly enough, even the situation in Albania was better. The oldest stuff you see there, outside of an occssional W123, is Mk2 Golfs, W124s and W201s.

I have a soft spot for the S10 and I don’t even know why. My dad had one (80s) and it was kind of garbage and I had an S15 Jimmy (also 80s, 2.4 I think), also garbage but still, for some reason...

That's a mega oof there. Then again the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX essentially share a market. Shame really.

Of course they're not selling, it costs the same as the Lexus version and they never bother to even advertise it.

Missed this news, RIP Ferdinand Piech. Among other things, created one of the greatest race cars of all time.

Probably because there's likely no reason for it to exist in the US market if it's going to take sales away from Lexus.

That's Toyota's own fault, they should be pricing the Land Cruiser to compete with the Wrangler and Defender and let the Lexus compete with the Range Rover and G-Wagen.

Except the Land Cruiser they're talking about is the big J200 model, which is for all intents and purposes a proper SUV. It's not in the same class as the Wrangler or the Defender, more in the same class as the Tahoe and Explorer. If they sold the J70 Land Cruiser in the United States, you might have a point about pricing it against the Wrangler or the Defender, as it is similarly sized, similarly priced, and has similar capabilities.

Selling the J70 here instead of the J200 would honestly make a lot more sense. They already have the 4Runner and Sequoia to compete with the Tahoe/Suburban/Expedition/etc., they can market the J70 Land Cruiser as a hardcore off-roader, and that leaves the LX in the luxury range.
