Though the Lexus LS is also a comfortable mile-muncher, its build quality is better, and it's not as virtually-non-existent in the classifieds as a 300 that is not a V6 one.

Surprisingly, the running cost in terms of fuel doesn't look too bad; the variable displacement in the V8 means that it seems to get about 20mpg overall. Not shabby for a massive thing like that. Bearing in mind that the PT's ECC engine gets about 25mpg overall, it's not such a bad deal. Tax is about £550/yr, which is a lot - but the PT costs £340/yr anyway, so over a year it's not really a big deal. And let's face it, while the Lexus may be better put together, it's not got the character of the 300C. That beautiful eggcrate grille goes all the way back to the first Chrysler 300!

That's something I really like (and also like in the PT Cruiser): It's unashamedly American in its styling cues. It feels like they were the last real Chryslers; FCA just puts a badge on Lancias and calls it quits. Lancias for crying out loud! And soon, as EVs gradually improve and they begin to eat into the market for petrol as a fuel, it'll get harder and harder to find the go-juice to run a big V8 at all. Before I'm forced to drive a glorified bloody washing machine, I'm gonna drive a Hemi.

Ah, the Mk2 300. Well, that one is far better after the DaimlerChrysler twats were out. Still, you might want to lower your expectations and get a diesel. V8s are hard to come by in the UK. Out of 83 300s on Auto Trader, only four are V8s, and just one of them is a Mk2 (an SRT8, to be exact).

But I like it. It's a car I'm probably gonna buy someday.

Ehhh. It's my only, steadily receding, chance to drive a V8. Oh, I don't think the Hideously Dull Glorious Electric Future will mean petrol isn't available; I just don't think I'll be able to afford it in any useful quantity. Running a big, thirsty V8 will be the preserve of the super-rich. Hell, running anything thirstier than a tiny econobox will probably be out of the question. It's pretty much a case of do it before 2030, or don't do it at all. Besides, the UK is clearly moving towards taxing and MOTing diesels off the roads.

Now one thing we did get that America didn't was a 300C estate (i.e. station wagon). I quite like the look of them, with their "it's an estate but we'll pretend it's a fastback" styling, and they're more practical than saloons (sedans) on the rare occasion when one needs to shift a big load.

And god I love that eggcrate.

We got that as a Dodge, the Magnum. I considered getting one of those, but didn't really care for the interior, the newer 300 and Charger have better interiors now.

Some time ago, I saw what's the ugliest Corsa on the planet at an used car lot. Weird-looking airbrushing, blingy alloys, not-too-nice bodykit, interior decorated with tacky blue paint and stickers, plus the basic 1.0 54 HP engine.

Today, someone from my school turned up in that thing.
Also, just look at that thing's paintjob quality.

That may be the single best Corsa that ever lived. o>

Yeah, the 2005-model 300C interior is a bit... plasticky. Still, in truth I'd be buying it almost entirely for the V8. Now, if only you could get it with a manual box...

The 5G tronic it has is a decent automatic, it's not as slushy as an AOD.

I would never thinking of touching a V6 300 or Charger or Challenger, V8 or bust.

Don't remember what he drove before he passed away, but he had a sweet yacht he used to find sunken World War II wrecks.

I'm afraid that it's a Cadillac, not a Ford.

The VM Motori diesel (Ecodiesel, as the Americans call it) is quite good.

And so is the gasoline V6, which also isn't low on power, unless you consider Lamborghinis or Ferraris "modestly powerful".

The Hemi is more reliable than their older V6, the Pentastar seems to be better, but I don't know. A lot of base model 300 and Chargers had a 2.7 liter V6 which was a terrible engine that had problems with oil sludge.

The nod and a wink underselling of power is back in fashion

Are there automotive tax structures based on hp in the world still?

Thay could have done it better. More aggressive design, a full bar, etc.

The way it is now, it looks like one of the Malaise Era Countaches.

I didn't say much about the Pentastar, I haven't much knowledge about it. But I do know their previous V6 engines had bad reputations.

What can I do? Research or a buy a car with that engine? That's it. Though I might. I've been really wanting to join vanlife with either a Chrysler or Dodge minivan, Ford Transit or E-series, or Mercedes Benz Sprinter. If I get Chrysler Town and Country, Pacifica or Dodge Grand Caravan, I would learn about its engine.

I remember seeing one sit on a dealer's lot for a while near me. I'd seriously buy one, tbh.

Also, I saw two Mustang II cars today.

This is just a thought experiment.
Imagine you're 17 and your parents will buy you a nice car. Nothing crazy and hard to insure like a Mustang GT or a jacked-up Ram 1500. What do you go for?
Personally, I'd pick a Mazda 6 Grand Touring. Looks good, fun to drive, good mix of features and affordability.

Any of these

My cars are on the list, kinda. It says Ford Crown Victoria, but I have a Mercury Grand Marquis.
