I'm not sure what it is you're challenging here. Did you somehow register this as surprise or a complaint rather than a casual observation inspired by the idea that people who like cars notice cars? Perhaps even a mild humblebrag if it absolutely needed to be attacked?

Oh lordy, are you only seeing the reflection of the tip of the iceberg of what 'some dude in the desert' is doing with cars.

So, this october I might go from Italy to Hungary by car. The idea excites me but yet it scares me despite is not the first time I drive. Maybe is because my car is a Renault Clio 1.2 MKII, or maybe because I am afraid to run out of money, but I am kind of afraid. Yet, I cannot wait to drive there, and do some kind of adventure.
Do you think a Renault Clio can resist?

Even if it doesn't that's part of the adventure. But, you know, maybe take it in for a tune up (or do it yourself if you're knowledgeable enough) make sure your tires are good and you have a reasonable assortment of spares etc. I want to say "like extra belts" but that might be a vintage car thing. All the fluids you might need, that sort of thing for sure. Use fuel stops to check those levels while you wait for the tank to fill, plus you'll look all car experty to the other people checking your fluids even if you're just opening up the hood and going, "Well, all the little plastic bottles are still full, this long wand is still got slick stuff on it, I think I'm good..."

The money thing I can't help you with. You can try doing the math about how much gas you'll need and how much it costs across the areas you're covering versus a realistic assessment of the time it would take to get there and things like food and lodging, but I've never gotten that right once even when my ex girlfriend tried to do the figuring. Just, probably more than you think.

Eh, I am trying to calculate that because I know that for example fuel costs very less outside Italy. As for food, i luckily am a person who survives with sandwiches and I can prepare loads of them during the travel. Of course, before going, I am going to give it a check-up (and already I brought my car to the mechanic to change the fog lights and add a button for the horn, just in case) . Only thing that worries me is which road to take. I heard that Slovenia is a no to go about highways, being all of them roads broken af, but I do not know.

Hey, I dunno if any of you are into WRC, but this year's season has just gotten, unexpectedly, hotly contested. After a decade of utter domination and a two manufacturer structure running the sport into the ground, the past three years have been exciting as fuuuuuuck. Reigning champion Sebastien Ogier, driving for the cash-strapped M-Sport team, has had a tough time this year against his main title rival, Thierry Neuville, at stagnating-in-development Hyundai, after years of his own dominance (in which he took five titles, four with the all-conquering Volkswagen team and one last year with M-Sport, who after decades scored their first constructors title). Neither driver, however, could have predicted the rise of Ott Tanak, the Estonian driving for the increasingly strong Toyota team.

Last year, Neuville let his own title hopes shatter from a combination of his own extremely silly mistakes, crashing out of the lead of the first two rallies and, later in the year, falling foul to his own Hyundai's unreliability and weak suspension. This year, he's set out to right his wrongs and, so far, has led the championship for almost the entire season, being the first non-Sebastien to lead a championship for so long in years. However, his own mistakes and bad luck stemming from mechanical issues, which should have been capitalized on by Ogier, have been met with uncharacteristic mistakes from the Frenchman, who in the past half decade has never put a foot wrong. The fact that both main title contenders have run into trouble (most notably at the past rally, Rally Turkey, a rough car-breaking event making its return to the calendar) has meant that Toyota's Ott Tanak, last year playing second-fiddle to Ogier and his title hopes, has been able to score three back to back rally wins and slingshotted himself up the championship standings to within 11 (or 17, not sure) points from Neuville.

This season is especially exciting: Toyota's Yaris had been ridiculously unreliable for most of this season while still being the quickest car, and now that it's finally coming together and starting to work Tanak's title chances are very much alive. Tanak himself is surely the championship's quickest driver, but a run of unfortunate retirements from his car's fragility knocked him down early. Ogier, who was expected to take another title with ease after winning the opening rally, has been seriously struggling all year, and has started to crash out of events in silly ways reminiscent of his rookie years. Neuville, still very much hungry for the title he lost last year, has gotten over his own silly mistakes but punctures, failures, and the Hyundai's lack of pace on certain rallies has hurt his chances.

For the first time in over a decade there's a proper three-way championship battle carrying itself into the last three rallies of the season, so if you're even remotely interested in motorsports, I'd totally suggest checking it out.

My town has a rally, the Vistula Rally, holding a street stage downtown.

During this year's edition, I saw a Mecedes S63 AMG coupe with rally organizer stickers driving around town, which makes you wonder how much money is made in rallying.

Little bummed I slept through VW dominating. I are intrigued. I need a way to watch motorsports in my new cable cutting ways.

That's probably it, only conversion vans have leather seats from a coachbuilder, I now remember Vinyl exists in many commercial vans and trucks.

So Jalopnik tested an EcoSport, which is based on a Fiesta, against a Focus... which is a size up from the Fiesta. So it's an apples to oranges comparison... good job Jalopnik. So basically, if I get a crossover a size down, I get as much space as something that is supposedly based on a larger platform... not bad.

To explain my logic. I tend to go by sizes as automakers seem to imply...
Fiesta = EcoSport
Focus = Escape
Fusion = Edge
Taurus = Exploder
????? = Expedition

So in this case it would be more fair to compare the EcoSport to a Fiesta... I'd be curious to see how the size differences would work out there.

Eternally salty, quite tired, and perhaps looking for a brighter future.
