I'm hoping someone, here or elsewhere, buys it soon so I won't be tempted any more than I am.

Was that the one where he gave James May a face full of muddy water because he was standing through the sunroof like a tank commander?

I loved my 2006 Pontiac G6, it was my first and only car. Solid, roomy, and very high quality brakes. The first time I ever drove another car I was like "holy shit the brakes don't work I'm gonna die" because in my car braking required just the slightest pressure on the pedal.

I've always felt the exact opposite, like GM's brakes are the only ones that offer any modulation in braking force and everyone else's brakes are like an on/off switch (with varying amounts of play in the brake pedal before they grab).

Should I consider posting on this thread if I consider myself moderately knowledgeable about cars, but since I'm European I can't even visualise the models you guys are talking about? I'd love to shit on what is being done to the automotive industry here in the Old Continent.

Sure, there's a few Europeans who post here.

Can confirm, had a 2004 Grand Am and it was solid as hell. Which is good, given that it died by being rolled.

I worked a show where I was constantly switching back and forth between a G6 and a Buick Lacrosse....however that's spelled. The game yuppie kids play with sticks.

In that side by side (without consideration for price since it wasn't an issue for me at the time) the Lacrosse came out ahead. Driving wise the felt about the same. The G6 made a bigger production about things. I think it was one of those cars where the dials all did a little zoomy when you turned the key, but the Lacrosse felt more responsive while still cushioning me in a little ball of 'don't get too worked up, this is an American sedan..."

Weirdly enough I ended up enjoying the Cobalt that was also on tap a lot more. I think it felt more responsive than the two bigger cars, but I can't remember now, I only remember liking the Cobalt. Beggars and choosers when it comes to rental cars after all.

I hate the squish. I like a solid pedal that responds to force, I like the brake to come on as soon as I touch the pedal. I don't trust the squish. The squish feels like a suggestion to slow down. I want an insistence.

I regularly drive a 1978 MG Midget with no power brakes, obviously. I had to drive my sister's 2010 Buick once, and nearly put myself through the windshield when I thought I was tapping the brakes like I usually do. Luckily, it was in a parking lot so I didn't cause an accident.

European emissions standards have killed the Morgan 3 Wheeler.

Furthermore, I consider that Europe must be destroyed.

Finally got around to buying myself a winter car. Hopefully that will mean the 'rolla can be relegated to summer only car. Here's to hoping the 250k Jeep will last me a few years or more.

TBF tho, it was not what I'd consider a good modern day interpretation of a classic, and was not a good track day car anyway.

This one's a tank. Suspension is a wee bit clapped (the left front wheel sort of shows it) but the body is sold, interior is in good shape, starts and runs no questions asked.

I'm gonna be shopping for a car starting today. I'm so anxious about it and don't have a clue what to do. All of my previous cars were picked out for me, and I'm so so scared I'll make the wrong choice and accidentally buy a bad car.

What do you intend to use the car for?
If you’re going to use it for commuting, you probably want something small and fuel efficient, like a Honda Civic. If you need cargo or passenger space, you probably want a mid sized SUV.

What factors are you looking for in a car? Fuel effiecny? Reliability? Ease of repair?
Are you looking to buy used or new? There are a ton of used Honda and Toyota sedans floating around out there for cheap. Both companies make reliable cars, and you can’t really go wrong with either. Just start browsing listings on the internet, see what’s in your price range.

If you're looking for a sedan that's safe but fun to drive, then I'd go for a Lincoln LS with the optional DOHC V8; for a roomy luxury sedan from the 2000's, it's aged very well and can probably be found for cheap.

Plenty of spare parts lying around for repairs, and can hit 0-60 in the mid-7 second range. Basically a good first car for people who like performance and versatility at the same time.

Chartreuse is my favorite color.

There are no bad cars, just ones unsuitable to a particular individual's needs and tastes. First, decide what is important to you and only then start looking at vehicles meeting those criteria.
