Care to start it? It would be quite interesting.

Or at least give me points to touch upon when making one.

For context, Cadillac's CEO said "millennials are killing cars" but that's not true young adults can barely afford to buy new, especially luxury cars.

My parents last car purchase would have paid off my student loans.

Cadillac should stop making excuses, and make a product worth buying for once. The average luxury car today offers almost nothing to justify it over a more pedestrian model. I can get leather seats, navigation, and a plethora of self steering safety tech in a run of the mill Accord. Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti really offer nothing extra compared to their main stream counterparts.

Considering I'll be in the market for a new car soon... Cadillac has nothing I want. (Then again GM has nothing I want.)

If I get a Cadillac, it would only be the CT5 and CT6. It's RWD unlike the Lincoln Continental and upcoming Zephyr sedans, which are FWD.

Though, I could also get a Mercedes-Benz, if I could afford luxury new.

The problem is not with luxury cars, the problem is that you're not in the market for one. It's the handling, material quality, higher-reaching equipment list, brand prestige, etc... that makes a luxury car, not just the equipment level.

And before you cut GM out, why the prejudice?

I can't remember what the race was, I just remember thinking it was weird we held a big race the same weekend.

That's the thing. Handling and material quality in many luxury brands isn't notably better, a higher reaching equipment list is a stretch unless you include some weird stuff like smell diffusers and leather lined trunks. Brand presitge is one of the poorest excuses to charge more for a car. I still remember the tripe Cadillac shoved out in the 90s, and their brand is still budget luxury to me.

That is why I cut GM out. Their aggressive cost cutting, bland line up, and lack of manual transmission options leaves them with absolutely nothing worth noting or even considering.

Man, I still have pictures on my computer of one of these on Craigslist I found like 10 or 15 years ago for $8,000.

Friends use to joke that I'd just waste any money I had on cars...I'd have made so much damn money now.

Fiat-Chrysler and Rénault to merge

Postby Risottia » Mon May 27, 2019 12:56 am

https://www.repubblica.it/economia/2019 ... 2-S1.12-T1
https://www.ft.com/content/fad8b3b2-804 ... e435b57a3b
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has proposed a €32.6bn all-share merger with Renault, ...

After buying Chrysler some years ago, Fiat goes for another major prize as Rénault (which also controls Dacia and has an alliance with Nissan). If this goes (and it requires a green light from various antitrust authorities) FCA+Rénault will become the third carmaker in the world by number of vehicles sold every year, make Rénault enter the high-end market through the Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and Ferrari brands, and make FCA gain a line of full-electric vehicles from Rénault and Nissan.
Do you think this merger will be green-lighted?

Great links..

One most people can read.

I'm not a fan of massive mergers leading to evermore massive companies, I've worked with FCA and they're archaic.. giving them more ownership can't be a great idea.
