Not to squash all Hopes for your relationship as the choice is up to you and your girlfriend; however, I dont believe that the Holy Quran permits this to Muslim women to marry Christians although Muslim men may marry Christian women.

The reason is because since the man is the head of household according to the Quran (and even in the Christian New Testament), the man may have an influence on the wife to lead her away from Islam. Although, I am not saying that she will actually leave Islam, rather, the Quran does have some strict measure to prevent certain situations from occuring.

In the end, the choice is yours. My advice us don't convert simply to marry your girlfriend. Rather, find for yourself if Islam is the truth or not. I would advise that you both pray on this matter and supplicate both day and night, and if you guys feel good for whatever decision, then do so, and may God guide you both. Ameen.

We actually had this discussion in either this thread or in the previous incarnations of this thread. There's nothing that I know of in the Holy Qur'an that says that Muslim women can't marry kitaabi men, but the Muslim and Jew I was speaking with advised against it for the same reasons.

If you're not: There's no reason why you couldn't get married. Though depending on how conservative/orthodox her family is, then you might have issues with that, and it's never good to have problems with your in-laws and the rest of her family.

IIRC it's because under Sharia Law the wife adopts the husband's religion, and Islam ain't too keen on losing followers.

I could be wrong though, so take that with a grain of salt.

Well, I dont believe in death for apostasy; not even in (physical) Sharia Law (historically), which I also believe isn't applicable in modern society.

There are a lot of interpretations about marriage with different religion. The first base is against it, the second base is supporting it, the third base says it is only allowed if the Muslims marry with those who came from the Abrahamic religions.

It depends. If you live in the West then you can get a civil marriage no problem. However, an Islamic marriage is probably not possible due to the fact that you are not a Muslim. However, given the fact that she is a Muslim, and that you are her boyfriend, I don't think that she'd make a deal out of that. Does her family know about you two? If the answer is yes, then well you're probably safe.

When a person is coerced into a system then that produces hypocrisy. When a person is not coerced, ie free to leave, then it creates disbelief. Ergo, non-coercion is preferable to coercion.

There isn't a way to my understanding, without her forsaking what Islam says or without you forsaking what Christianity says. Unless you convert to Islam or if she becomes an apostate in abandoning Islam for your faith, then I recommend that you leave her. Practically speaking, this is the only way. "Be not unequally joined together with the unbeliever." In the Old Testament they were forbidden from intermarrying with the Heathen. You'll want to do your Christian thing and she'll want to do her Muslim thing. No way it can work.
