That's pretty universal, even in the wealthiest of school districts. Teachers often buy extra class materials, snacks, classroom supplies, books, tissues, light cleaning supplies (wet wipes, dusters, etc.), and a plethora of other things for their classes. It's an insane part of the job, but they prepare you for it in college. Which is a real shame because we shouldn't have to prep our teachers for things like that, but we do.
