Actually, the elite ring of liberals has it set up so that every Democrat can vote in California state elections as a dead person. ;)

I would love it except it would multiply our senators, which I don't want. So I must oppose.

Why dont you care? Plus there is also the issue of water. Los Angeles gets its water from the proposed Southern California. What's to stop the possible new government from refusing to supply them with water?
Or does that also not matter to you?

Can't, commerce clause is specifically about preventing that sort of thing

I am actually kinda excited to see where the referendum will go, I hope some actual change will happen, more stars for our flag and less Californian power in the Congress

Erm, it'd actually be more Californian power in Congress.

Because the state government is legitimately terrible and does everything it can to undermine the rule of law. It should be contained.

Have you ever considered ways to change the Government, rather than dismantle the state?

Because then it'd be in another state. At that point, it'd be like me asking why I'd have to pay exorbitant tuition to go there when I live on the other side of the country. Not that I'd ever want to go there.

Because your tax dollars aren't funding our universities.

Can we just have politicians in Sacramento, secede?

You would have one red block, one purple, and one solid blue. To in effect it would be pretty balanced. Nor Cal would be the purple or light blue.

In what World would NorCal be purple?

LimaUniformNovemberAlpha wrote:I'm betting it's about increased division between rural and urban America as of the 2016 election. Not unlike how people have been talking about splitting up Texas.

Whether this division is justified depends on to what extent you blame rural America, urban America, or their refusal to work together. Perhaps splitting them up might serve as a social experiment as to whose ideas work better, and then they can work together on the ideas of the winner, but social experiments are known for sources of error...

Many of the rural parts of the state would unable to sustain themselves without the populous coastal counties.

Same can be said about the coast and food. California works the way it is, the only problem is that the brainiacs in the Sac have too much power - so we can just devolve it. Or we can have some crazy proposal that someone could only come up with, if he or she is supported by the 420 industry, both figuratively and literally.

There's a reason - trolling. It's not a good reason, but it's a reason :P

Wasting tax dollars on the train to nowhere, instead of reinvesting them in the K-12 system by target an improvement in the teaching sector.

Better Idea

Declare it a territory and get all the money made from there directly

Pros:
They can't vote in National Elections
More Money
Less Silicon Valley influence on US government

Cons:
None

I don't see the point of people complaining about a lack of representation in California when federal elections have the same problems. Some in California get out voted by the coastal areas that have more people while California gets out voted by interior states with less people. You'd think the second would be seen as less democratic than the first but I guess not.

No, better idea. Let them secede. Carve out Shasta or Jefferson as well. Turn of the water. send in the military. Military occupation. Eventually let back into the union as either a less powerful state or had over to Texas.

Whoah whoah whoah we Texans don't want 'em. Send 'em somewhere else.
