Seriously how is that not awesome?

It is an awesome notion.

I used to look up at the stars and I interpreted it as evidence of an intelligent creator, so really I do understand the religious point of view in that regard.

To me, the idea of an intelligence behind me being here is like slapping a brand name on the Grand Canyon. It denigrates the beauty that comes of its natural formation.

Some of the most beautiful things can be seen in the depths of space. Nebula, for example, can form into shapes which are more breathtaking than anything any human artist has done - at least to me, anyway.

Exactly, and to claim that somebody 'did' that takes away from it. Some people say that it celebrates the glory of God, I say that kind of comment is just trying to make their imaginary friend look big.

So many things had to go right for life to rise on this planet, and to reach the level of complexity that is us. We are such a small part of the universe, but if anything that makes us even more special and precious. Tacking 'God' on to any of that is like saying 'The Human Race, brought to you by Reebok'.

I do like the line from the newer Cosmos series:

"Your God is too small."

God is the ultimate cosmic horror, if you think about it. We orbit one of several hundred billion stars in the Milky Way, which is one of an even greater number of galaxies in the observable universe. That neatly brings us to temporal scale, as the observable universe is merely the volume of space we can observe; there is more space beyond it, but we can't see it because the light emitted from it has not yet had enough time to reach Earth. Our current estimates of the age of the universe put it around 13.79 billion years. The earliest human fossils are from 300,000 years ago. The earliest recorded history is from about 5500 years ago. In other words, we have been recording our history for about 1.83% of our existence as a species, and our species has existed for about 0.002% of the total time the universe has existed. God is a being who is larger than the universe and has existed for longer than it.

Eh, to me natural beauty is just beauty, regardless of where or ‘who’ it comes from. Cuz I’m just a tiny speck with only a few decades to live lol, so I’ll just take life’s pleasures as I can.

ALL gods are too small, compared to the human mind that created them.

Indeed. Gods are rarely worthy of their creators.

I think corporatism would solve the problems. Rather compromise between classes than class warfare. I suppose a lot atheists embrace centrism

Devil worshiper. That was the only word there I had to look up, and I got it wrong. Maybe the ironic "mäit" screwed up the translation.

Through Jesus all things are possible, I'm told. So I guess if you pray really hard for coffee he would be.
