It depended on the city or county you were in as far as what blades you could carry, but fixed blades were verboten statewide until the new law went into effect.

The 2A is by far the least popular amendment of the US constitution today. Only the 18th Amendment was less popular, resulting in its abolition.

Always thought that the M1851 and M1854 uniforms were the best, looks wise. But 1800s US uniforms are great in general.

I don’t have very strong opinions on the 2nd amendment, but I think historical context is important, I mean, at the time the framers wrote it, they didn’t have nearly as much weaponry as we do now. They lived in an age before most guns, save for muskets and such. It’s hard to say where the line should be drawn, because technology has advanced since the constitution came to be.

Certainly, but predicting firearm technology over the course of over 200 years would be an impossible task. The founders would have likely drawn a line somewhere had modern firearms existed at the time.
