Because America and Germany have vastly different histories, are governed by fairly different Constitutions, and have not-insignificant general cultural differences.

Population densities probably vary significantly as well.

Well for starters after the Germans submitted to registration and selective disarmament the German government began a campaign of genocide. It's usually referred to as the holocaust, I'm sure you're familiar.

If I was gonna go with any one big difference between the US and Germany I'd go with that. Yeah.

Just to be pedantic, but the Nazi government only disarmed leftists and Jewish Germans. Since most of the country was practically complacent in the Holocaust in some manner (active support/participation, passive disregard for the events happening around them, etc.) due to the widespread anti-Semitism across Europe at the time, there was no need to disarm most Germans when they either didn't care or full-on supported the events happening. Bar resistance groups like German partisans and the White Rose, of course.

Yes, because genocide and oppression never happened in the US. Gotcha.

:eyebrow:

Yes, the US engaging in horrible practices during their wars of expansion against the natives is atrocious.

Let's not pretend that in any way compares to the ordered and deliberate orchestration of genocide on an industrial scale within living memory.

I can go deeper, but its clear you have no intention of having a realistic outlook on gun control and gun legislation and just want your ideal world to be propped up by deliberate ignorance. Just a heads up, if your ideology can't be upheld without ignoring reality, you should abandon it.

Small consolation to those killed, although realistically there’s little they could do in Germany itself.

Also I thought White Rose was peaceful resisters, or am I mixing them up with someone else?

Yeah. They were lucky if they could get out at all and get somewhere safe considering how fucking much of Europe was straight-up complacent in the genocide of so many.

Honestly, the worker-capitalist dynamic works fairly well when applied to the citizen and the state, at least when it comes to force. You don’t want citizens to have zero options when it comes to force.

If a bad man/woman is wielding it, then yes, the guns are more of a danger. Mental health, plus 'pipe tightening' the flow of guns, will take steps to solve the problem.
