We already do that with a 20-to-50 year history regarding all FFL-transfers (50 for NFA items iirc).

Because one never knows when someone dusts off that Stg-44 and a crate of 80 year old ammo for a bank-robbery.

I'd be very concerned if someone used 80 year old ammo I'd say listen you got money so go buy some got damn ammo and throw that shit away no need to for the desperation.

No records would probably be ideal. If there's ever a Chinese invasion, the first thing they'll probably do is check the records, and round up all of the gun owners who are recorded.

For the life of me, I cannot see how that would be enforced, it's a dumb fucking idea just like any other background check bullshit.
And to call private sales sans background check a loophole is disingenuous and an outright lie. It isn't a loophole as it doesn't exist.

It can't be enforced, and I honestly believe that it's deliberately designed to be that way as in a few years when it fails miserably as it has in Cali, the anti's can then turn around and use it as fuel to further burden the law abiding and continue chipping away at the 2A.

Walking through the Lowes tool department with my dad wasn't part of my childhood, though.

Besides, now I just get my Craftsman fix online, as Sears has a lot of online sales that are better than Lowes retail price, and my purchases can be delivered to my house (in the case of the toolbox I ordered for my birthday, that ability to get it delivered was one of the key reasons I went with an online order).

The Home Depot by my house does, I was there on Sunday picking up some wood stain, wiremold and a few other things and right in the main isle was a display full of wrenches, ratchets/sockets, screw driver sets.
