If you think identity politics is bad now, you should look around 100 years into the past. Oh boy, things really got out of hand back then.

Sure seems to me like things are sliding back in that direction, at least in some places.

9/10 Americans owned homes and land then, there was an extremely low divorce rate, community identity was strong, piety was strong, individuals didn't split and move far from their families as adults, you could see the stars in abundance, nature was everywhere, loving your country meant loving the actual COUNTRY. People sang, they didn't listen to artificial music. It was beautiful

Angry millenials on tumblr and their growing opposites over on the alt right. Small but noisy factions, sure, but small and noisy factions can do plenty of damage left unchecked.

I think you'll find you're never more than an hour tops from a remote, quiet place with sufficiently low light pollution to see the stars.

All politics are identity politics

Depends on how you define "identity" in the context of politics I suppose.

I travel often enough, it just kinda sucks not to be able to go outside and not see a ton of stars. But on the grand scale of environmental problems, not seeing shiny sky dots isn't really a big one.

Not as bad as you would think since the "identities" did not predominantly live in the same nations.

Are you familiar at all with the state of race relations in the United States during, say, the 50s? It wasn't fun. Nor any period before that, really.
