Eastern Europe, at least the parts open during the extent of the crisis, were definitely not fires - it's completely safe, although chilly, up in Lithuania... where many, potentially most, migrants and refugees went and then promptly left for Western European countries.
You also forgot about the Balkans, which are a mixed bag of sorts.

Eh, I feel like the Baltic states, especially Estonia, are not indicative of the entirety of Eastern Europe's attitude towards migrants. Western Europe and Scandinavia are more culturally and politically accepting.

Fair, although I still wouldn't call the entirety of Eastern Europe "a fire".
Now, of course, based on current politics and the frankly abysmal handling of the crisis, attitudes in Western and Northern European countries may change further down the line - we'll have to wait and see.

Now, of course, based on current politics and the frankly abysmal handling of the crisis, attitudes in Western and Northern European countries may change further down the line - we'll have to wait and see.

The refugee crisis is dying down now and support for anti-immigration parties is fizzling in Germany and Sweden (in December 2017, SD support was very low in most metrics except immigration where it had 26% support), but it certainly could've been handled better.

Loads better, yes.
It's also good to note that the aftershocks from the crisis will likely remain for a good while. Germany took quite a while to form a government and only managed to form the old coalition begrudgingly. I don't know what's going on in Sweden; I assume their government has been snowed in for the last year or something.

I hear they finally managed to form the "Grand Coalition" between the CDU/CSU and the SDP again, but with a much smaller majority than last time and new opponents in the Bundestag to contend with.
