I agree. Hamilton is by no means bad music to listen to, but the actual way in which the story is told is so incredibly-cringe inducing.

How do you know that? I lived in the South for 17 years (though I am a native of NYC). I had no problems relating with Southerners, but I still dislike country music. On the other hand, I lived in Southern Appalachia for 4 years, and I love Appalachian folk music. To automatically equate a person's musical tastes with latent racism and classism is extremely inappropriate.
