That's weird because people still really like SNL.

Also, you act as if the satirization of politics is a new thing, have you just not being paying attention this whole time?

Yes. They are. Most things can have jokes made about them. Most good jokes, in fact, are about serious things.

That's why people are not gonna watch some outlandish, coastal elitists,

The majority of Americans live in coastal states. Stop pretending you're a victim for being a midwesterner - you're not under represented, there just aren't a lot of you.

who are out of touch with reality

Not to the roughly 60% of Americans who agree with them that Trump sucks. Your reality isn't everyone elses. Stop trying to impose it.

go on stage and make political jokes, because they hold no weight, are unfunny, and show how completely stupid they are.

Lots and lots of people watch Colbert and SNL. They make political jokes. They have always made political jokes. If you think they're down you literally only get your news from delusional Trump tweets.

People have been making fun of the state of politics since five minutes after the human species first invented politics.
That's why people are not gonna watch some outlandish, coastal elitists, who are out of touch with reality go on stage and make political jokes, because they hold no weight, are unfunny, and show how completely stupid they are.

People are going to watch the Oscars. Millions and millions of people. Depend.

And yet with social media and the hyper-politicized landscape we live in now, many people would tend to think the opposite of politics being "funny"

And millions more are gonna avoid watching the Oscars. Millions and millions of people.

No millions of people will not watch out of apathy as they always had. A handful of super-hyper partisans will boycott them (while they cry over not having a functioning coffee machine because they smashed that in a rage-fit). And millions will watch it.

Political jokes and satire have been around as long as politics have. It's just how things are.

Uh, seriously, have you just not been paying attention to realize that political jokes are literally as old as politics? This isn't anything new or a symptom of our hyperpartisan era, it's just a thing that has always been and always will be. Mostly because politics, like most things, is inherently absurd.

As I stated earlier, it's currently cool to hate the Oscars for a variety of reasons, them "pushing an agenda" is not usually one.

To some they'd assume he is his own fool. And if not, who would be his fool then, Jeff Sessions?

Sean Spicer was close. Unfortunately, he sleeps with the bushes now.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

That's exactly what I was thinking of when I posted that. I'm sad Spicer is gone, now there's no more hilarious SNL fodder from Trump's press conferences. And I don't think we've had an Alec Baldwin Trump sketch in a while either, so it's barely worth watching now.

Show was on hiatus for the Olympics, they opened last night with an Alec Baldwin Trump sketch making fun of his waffling on guns and attack on Sessions.

No, not really. Social media is full of people making fun of politics.

And millions more are gonna avoid watching the Oscars. Millions and millions of people.

I doubt that. Millions and millions won't watch the Oscars, yeah. Because they're not interested, or live in time zones that make it inconvenient, or whatever. Are there really going to be millions of people who were going to watch the Oscars, but are super mad a liberal celebrities so they decide not to? Nah.

I can't wait to watch it! (I don't usually do so until Monday afternoon between classes, when I watch it on YouTube.)

“Politics isn’t funny” he says, on NationStates, a satirical nation simulator.
