Yes. Yes it is. He is an embarrassment to the institution of the presidency and to the United States as a whole. I'm not sure if you realize this, but literally everyone who didn't vote for him - and, I'm afraid, much of the rest of the world - are laughing at him in an odd combination of wondering and fearing what this bull-in-a-china-closet will smash next.

He may not have a tv camera on him, but he will have his phone and his Twitter account. He could live tweet the Oscars for all we know. That might make the news. Of course it'll be for his thin skin and big ego rather than actual policy making...

To your other point, a slight correction: they'll be as progressive as they want.

He wouldn't have won if he wasn't against the embodiment of everything people hate about "the establishment". And if that embodiment weren't simultaneously overconfident and incompetent.

Where in that post did I say a single thing about Hillary Clinton? And yet you are arguing about her - a woman who is not President. If that is the only defense you can possibly scratch up for Donald Trump, you really ought to quit.

That's how he got elected, so it's relevant. They both were against the one person they could have won against. I'm sorry that you're still salty over the election :^)

Whatever you want to call it, people who win awards are going to say whatever they want until they go over their time and get played off. People who get interviewed on the red carpet are going to say whatever they want. If they want to make a political statement, they won't care about what that might do to the ratings.

Legitimate concern for the world and laughing at an obvious buffoon is salt now? I'm glad to see you have no legitimate arguments for why Donald Trump has any credibility or aptitude in so far as being President is concerned. Maybe you should actually argue in favor of Donald Trump instead of against a lady who is now irrelevant.

Donald Trump's approval rating has been hovering at or below 40%. People will still watch their shows. Stop deluding yourself.

We have. We've moved on, and are now criticizing his CURRENT policies and actions. But to you, moving on would just mean shutting up wouldn't it?

It's the same thing we saw and are seeing with Brexit. Any criticism of how it's handled is met with a "shut up and accept the result" or "why can't you just accept democracy".

There is a very prevalent "we won so sit down and shut up" attitude.

And if they don't expect even harsher ratings drops than last year. And you can bet your money that I won't watch it, I've got better shit to do than see a bunch of stuck-up elitist celebrities try to be funny and woke by bashing the president. Nothing new there at all.

Pah-lease, there are plenty of other reasons why it's cool to hate the Oscars, them pushing an agenda is a minuscule drop in the bucket, if it's an issue at all. Particularly when it's a safe bet that people will react favorably to bashing politicians.

With the exception of Trump, I guess, because he's Jesus or something?

Politics is not funny, they are not something to be made fun of. That's why people are not gonna watch some outlandish, coastal elitists, who are out of touch with reality go on stage and make political jokes, because they hold no weight, are unfunny, and show how completely stupid they are.
