I hope Berniecrats can help move the party to the left economically so they don't feel like that. Neoliberals have been a driving force in the party for a while, so it's understandable that they'd feel neglected.

1) Economics has long shown free trade as beneficial.
2) Trade wasn't unrestricted

One way free trade isn't, all those fools who went on about how China joining the WTO would bring them into the world order and cause them to become freer economically & politically. How wrong they proved to be.

Do people actually infer that the people on the US delegation are stupid for not writing rules and regulations into trade agreements with China?

If it wasn't China, it was going to be another South East Asian economy to be the world's manufacturer. This perspective as Irona highlights is devoid of any economic argument and just plays on an abstract fear of loosing trade to China.

I mean if all you care about is production. But it benefits consumers, and the wider economy. Comparative Advantage shows that free trade allows specialisation that benefits both sides. Cheap steel from China allows US construction firms to build more, grow more, etc.

Nah, it’s not, it ignores what’s written and replaces it with the opinions (which may or may not even be correct) of people who are long dead and renders the text of law meaningless.

Assuming we are competing on equal playing field and they aren't playing dirty games. I agree, trade is good. One way trade done with duplicitous partners who merely want your intellectual property and industrial base is suicidal.
