That's great. Good Job.

Trump still fucked up thing after thing after thing.

He also did thing after thing after thing right, including taxes, Korea, deepening relations with several nations, supporting the Three Seas Initiative of the "newer" NATO-EU member states in Eastern Europe, as well as the US recently returning it's focus on the Balkans, and getting China to the table regarding trade.

The agreement was not binding, the USA left legally. It would have lost credibility if it stayed in the agreement and violated it.

You draw all this nonsense comparison, so here is more: What credibility did France lose when it left NATO (and later rejoined)? Did the UK lose credibility when it chose to leave the EU? Maybe Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, et la, lost credibility when they broke away from the USSR? That is basically your "logic" on display.

And lost much credibility for doing so and putting business profit over the environment,. Who cares about deer and birds and forests only business profit matters

Birds and deer aren't going anywhere lmao.

NK is a goddamn vassal state. Let's not forget who has kept them afloat since 1954. (hint... CHINA!!!)

EDIT: Xinping (and Putin) know Trump's his own man and is capable of acting unilaterally. He doesn't listen to any advisers very long. He's the closest thing to a strongman the US will ever have. This is China's best shot at ending the Korean problem in a manner to their liking, meaning many economic and military concessions by the US in trade for NK's demilitarization. Kim Jong Un and NK exists only bc Beijing wish it. They have their reasons. Now is the best time to act on those reasons.

This is a good post tbh

Thanks.
But it's too logical and right to the point, lol.

NK is like... China's bitch ...and is gonna do like it's told. Why fool ourselves that it's not?
Donald Trump has no clue as to what "insuring the domestic tranquility" means

Getting back to the TPP is a bad thing.

Getting rid of the fairness doctrine and the net neutrality was also bad. As was planning to axe the adoption credit and fucking over homeless vets.

Are you seriously giving credit to Trump for getting China to come to the table for trade? They were already at the fucking table, we left, throw a tantrum, than came back.

Kramanica wrote:I think he means sell the Iranian treasury money. Though I'm not entirely sure how you can sell money...

Do they though? There may be some sort of special program I hadn't heard of, but that would be pretty unusual... ordinarily it'd be the FRBNY providing USD swap lines, and I'd be surprised if they had one with Iran.

I think what they may have been aiming at is the ability of the US to punish any banks that settle USD payments through the Fed for an entity associated with Iran with sanctions circumvention or money laundering. I'm sure they can and will tighten that up, and that would hurt because it basically stops people, businesses and government departments from transacting in US dollars.

But there's plenty of scope to replace USD, either by just transacting in EUR, GBP, CNY, RUB or whatever (the latter probably just for government contracts), or by using 'synthetic' US dollars (also called 'eurodollars' where everyone just pretends that they're trading USD without really physically moving them around New York). The settlement infrastructure is there to do just about anything with other currencies, and the Iranian government has pushed for a move in that direction in anticipation of all this happening. This wasn't really feasible before the nuclear agreement because the world was more or less together in putting pressure on Iran, while now it's just one or two countries intent on doing so.

But, of course the US government can still make life hell for any international financial institutions that enable Iranian trade, even if no money ever touches the States. And this is where the get to the crux of what is happening here. Trump obviously doesn't believe in soft power. That's why he's willing to burn what soft power the US has (in this case, by telling the world that the US will not abide by its own agreements or commitments the moment it doesn't suit the domestic political environment, and more broadly that it will no longer stand for the establishment of a global supranational world order) in order to exercise its hard power (in this case, its more or less unique position in the global financial system, or by threatening third countries that want to do trade with Iran). It's an interesting test whether that hard power is still actually enough to get anything done, or whether we've already graduated to a genuinely multipolar world in which the US can no longer enforce what it sees as its national interest without building coalitions.
“Every age and generation must be as free to act for itself in all cases as the age and generations which preceded it. The vanity and presumption of governing beyond the grave is the most ridiculous and insolent of all tyrannies. Man has no property in man; neither has any generation a property in the generations which are to follow.”

SAUDI ARABIA SAYS IT WILL BUILD NUCLEAR BOMB IF IRAN DOES

Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir... said "We will do whatever it takes to protect our people, we have made it clear that if Iran acquires a nuclear capability, we will do everything we can to do the same."

Way to blow, Trump. ;)
