Putin claims to have “invincible” nukes.

What do you think about Putin’s claims, especially since the animations are computer generated?

I think it is too early to make the call, but I can already feel the tabloids and doomsday promoters once again proclaiming “World War III imminent!”, and that isn’t helping me having any hope in the future (if there is any, in my opinion).

If the nukes are invincible, then you can't use them

They can't be destroyed, therefore can't explode :P

Invincibru!1!

Won't believe it until I see an NSA (or equivalent) report confirming it.

Convenient with the election on the way, too.

You see Ivan, if you make invincible nuke, you always have nukes! Never need to build more, since they can't be destroyed!

I think Putin referred to invincible as being apparently able to evade NATO defences. I am not going to go into my shoddy mental health, but an idea of a new arms race is a bad idea for public morale. If I were him and desperately wanted new ones I would develop them to replace rather than expand, while reducing the number of nukes overall, which are probably ageing anyway. There is a reason not to ignore the CND (edited for clarity), since they have a point about the destruction nukes can cause … and now I screwed up on the wording again. Grrr …

So it looks like the Russians have finally completed the Iron Curtain device, eh?

No matter. Its effects only last for 30 seconds or so, and then the Allies can send in the Prism tanks.

It's a response to preserve nuclear parity despite the push to develop a missile shield - which in reality is just as effective as a kitten shield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsXqN8GZwkU

Repeating Krushchevs mistake it would seem.

Krushchev's paranoia led to him up and declaring that the USSRs long range nukes were top of the line, mega fast, and super amazing, resulting in the US flipping the fuck out and deploying nukes to turkey in order to maintain parity as its own long range nukes were apparently worse, so mid-range nukes needed to take up the slack.

In truth, the USSR had worse long range nukes than the US.

This was followed by the USSR being like "Oshit" and deploying nukes to Cuba, viewed by the US as a hostile act because clearly such super fast gotta go fast nukes didn't need to be that close, and were trying to maneuver the US into a situation where the USSR could first strike so fast the US would be struggling to retaliate.

Then Krushchev privately admitted he was full of shit, and Kennedy privately agreed to withdraw the Turkish nukes.

The question is, is Trump and his administration smarter than Kennedy and his administration?
Will they recognize this as a trick?

Or will they hit the roof, and be like,
"WE GOTTA SPEND ANOTHER TRILLION ON MISSILE DEFENCE AND ANOTHER TRILLION AFTER THAT ON MAKING OUR NUKES INVINCIBLE." forcing russia to backpedal as their nuclear arsenal and defensive systems rapidly become worthless in the face of hysterical over-correction by the worlds largest economy with a reputation for an absurdly bloated military budget and no fucks to give.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

I have the best nukes, believe me. Nobody builds launch vehicles better than me. These warheads--and let me tell you, they are great warheads--they can do anything, and they beat anything. Nothing comes close. Tremendous.

Russia has very good missiles, and it isn't unlikely that they're better than anyone else's, and extremely hard to intercept. So basically they're claiming they have an excellent nuclear deterrent, which isn't exactly news. So what?
