Didn't I say that they don't need more people, and not that it couldn't have more. People aren't just as as precious as they were 200 years ago. Or 300. Or 500. You get the idea.San Lumen wrote:So according to you we should close the borders and stop all immigration in the USA and Europe?
Pretty much. Sure, we can have immigrant specialists, it's not like they can't get a job anywhere (also, having all of the world's smartest people is kinda good, since intellect is at least partly congenital) - but low-skilled, low-paid manpower? Nah.

In today's interconnected world you couldn't close the borders and shut down immigration. The European economy and and that of the US would collapse rather quickly.
So Rohingya or Karen people trying to leave Burma, you'd say to bad but you born in the wrong country not my problem if the government is oppressing you.

No living around trash bags and open sewers is not normal. But because a small proportion do does not make the people of an entire country savage.

Why can't immigrants make their lands better? Why do they have to rely on people like me? If we go to their land, so they don't have to waste our land, isn't that imperialism? So in this case, immigration is a backwards form of Imperialism. Which I am against.

I never said an entire nation was savage. I said there are savages in that nation. Why can't the people who live near trash and open sewers change that? Because they are too poor? Because it is part of their culture? Or, is it because they are savages?

Do you know anything about Burma? Its so easy for you to say what you did when your government isn't a dictatorship and isn't forcing you from your land because they've simply decided they dont like you.
Its not imperialism by a long shot. So all those Burmese refugees Buffalo, Albany , New York or Minneapolis-St Paul Should just be sent home? They came here legally, pay rent, have jobs and contribute greatly to the community.

Are you seriously suggesting that people living at life-threatening levels of poverty should install working sewers and trash collection services on their own? With what money and education are they supposed to do this?

Yes. "Money?" I am a socialist, and I believe that no one should be ruled by money, and that currency should Not exist. And that capitalism is preventing people from advancing, and this is one way how. "Education?" Why can't they educate themselves? Why is it people like me, having to educate them? Isn't that a form of imperialism?

Scientifically what made Burma a dictatorship? Is it the genetics in their capitalist government? You do know that the same people who support immigration today, would of supported imperialism 200 years ago, because in this perspective, both immigration and imperialism are forms of "Humanitarian aid." Do you think that the States should go to Burma and get rid of their dictator instead?

Oh. Nevermind then. I thought we were debating reality.
Well sure, they can just magically create the materials and infrastructure needed for those public works, and they can just magically know how to teach themselves things they don't even know they don't know. Expertise and knowledge are just capitalist lies after all.

Burma or Myanmar was ruled by the military after a coup in 1962 and they held power until 2011 after a series of agreed upon reforms to transition to civilian rule. The military still holds influence in the government though and over the police and oppressive measures towards certain groups remain today.

- You seem to be upset, and are using those terms to personally attack me. I never tried to attack you.

I never meant to attack you, just your arguments. They seem to be rather extreme and not grounded in the way the world actually works.

What do you mean why? the country was a military junta for 50 years. You don't undo decades of dictatorship with by waving a magic wand and a peaceful transition of power. And what do genetics have to with it?

Why did they become a Capitalist dictatorship? That is so oppressive, and promotes social slavery. What cause them to be a dictatorship? In terms of science, rather than the social way of explaining it.

Because their was a military coup and they systemically oppressed the people and created one of the most repressive regimes in the world. Many laws remain in place that oppress certain ethnic groups, some people like the Rohingya people have no rights because the constitution says they dont and even though the junta no longer exists the military still remains a powerful force in government.
