I only call myself some flavor of communist because that’s more or less the most accurate descriptor for the world I want to see. I don’t have much attachment to the label. But trust me when I say that the American Left is not communist.

Marxist/Leninist/Stalinist would be better words to describe the left, though I'd use Marxist lightly as Karl Marx's brand of socialism/communism was never able to be put into action as Marx died before he could see through or make it a reality
