Hyperloop no but high speed like in Japan certainly is. We could build that but instead we waste money on ships planes and other military equipment we don't need and countless other things we waste money on.

To survive the coming age, we must adapt, resist populist influences, and root out greedy tyranny from the hallowed halls of government, and as God is my witness, we will survive.

I’m not talking a bout the technology I’m talking economics. Simply not enough people there.

If we use Japanese style high speed trains they will make what was a 3 hour car trip into 90 minutes
Maybe in more populous states it could work. But outside of that not so much. The US is much more massive than Japan.

Nobody is advocating for the entire US to be covered in high speed rail lines.
The east coast, West Coast, Florida, Texas, and the midwest are the best places for high speed rail service and private companies are already taking advantage of it

And I see you didn’t bother to read my response there simply isn’t enough people in the majority of the US that would use the train to make it practical, at least today.

Although those planned routes are small scaled tho. Like just a Couple of states if that.

And it will not be built anytime soon. The Acela is the closest thing we have to Japanese bullet trains and it doesn't even compare

>rent control
lol
Loosening housing regulations and ending the superstitious fear of high density will make housing in San Francisco considerably more affordable. Preferably zoning laws throughout the US should be overhauled into something similar to Japan. Rich urban "liberals" just have this ridiculous self-destructive NIMBY attitude against affordable housing.

Maybe around the Lakes but the rest of the Midwest is to sparsely inhabited with population centers to far apart imho, and any trains but are going to be private companies, at least in the near future, cutting into their profits.

Exactly right around the Lakes area would be prime

There are far too many other issues that the government is worried about to consider rail investments, even if that would solve or help solve those problems.
