I hope you realize I was joking.

I know I was playing along.

Okay good.

Sarcasm can be a bit tricky to read on the Internet sometimes. I added a /s to my post just in case.

Well, who's up for some good old poltical manipulation, followed up with global one world authoritarian union and that's all topped off with mass genocide of the stupid.

Not mass genocide, but maybe something a bit more reliable. (Yet expensive and impractical.)

Ahem, construct a sleeper ship in orbit, but keep it secret . Then, gather up as many FE'ers as possible and take them to government sites depicting a flat earth. Tell them the earth is indeed flat, and an expedition is being mounted to investigate the underside of the earth and they have been chosen for their expertise on the subject. Then, put them aboard the sleeper ship and send it out so we don't have to worry about them, but tell it to look for habitable planets and land them there. When they finally realize they aren't on earth, take em back up and head back to earth.

Mars would be easiest place to send them.

You're assuming the flat earthers will realise and accept the fact at some point, then? I admire your optimism.

Im afraid there is no reaching them. I dated someone who thought the Earth was flat. I demonstrated gravity to them using a pillow and they said it was due to density and air resistance. Their unreachable and that this crazy thinking seems to be growing is scary.

Oh, I have no hope at all of reaching flat earthers. I was talking to the previous poster, who suggested taking them out to space and dumping them on a planet-other-than-Earth would prove anything to them.

They'd say they were in a film set and walk for weeks on end trying to find the door...

Probably. I think they should be selected for Elon Musk's trip to Mars or in the more immediate future civilian space flight Take people like Eric Dubay one of the most prominent flat earth people. I wonder what people like him will think then.

Depressingly, I doubt they will think anything different. Once someone has held a deeply entrenched belief for so long, it's nearly impossible to admit they're wrong.

But definitely take some prominent FE'ers anyway. Because somewhere, watching them "debunk" science, there'll be some little kid/teenager/young adult (either homeschooled or in some fundie school), watching and they'll think "Hmm, doesn't look flat to me", and they'll start questioning every bit of bull they've been force-fed about science.

In my experience, it's pointless to aim your arguments at the people who can't change. They're always for the people who are watching.

You dont think being sent up in a actual rocket to space and seeing the Earth from space would change their view?

Religious fundie counterargument: "It's a hologram. This guy I've never met says that my God says that the Earth is flat. I will not doubt my God. This image is like the Devil testing Jesus..."

Some already believe the sun is a hologram, and solar eclipses are a sign that God's updating it. Is it really so hard to believe that they'll doubt their own senses?

These flat earthers are a lot like cultists (cults fascinate me), no matter how bizarre the belief becomes - no matter how much a person has to twist their concept of reality upside-down to adapt to the teachings - it takes a brave person to stand up and admit they've been gullible, and deceived.

Well Id like to try it with a flat earther and see their reaction. They'd say the same about everyone else that they are gullible and deceived ones.

I believe I have a better solution: The world is shapeshifting gelatin. It is both flat, round, a velociraptor, a whale, a hexagon, an illuminati and a hydra at the same time because it constantly switches between all of them and a lot more shapeshifts as well.

True.

But it wouldn't be the first time I've had a fundie call me "sheeple". Generally, I go by the assumption that - when they mean accepting pretty-much internationally regarded science as fact - being accused of listening to people more knowledgeable than me is not really an insult.

BTW: I think it'd be a good thing to try. Like I said, if nothing else, it'd be great for the less-entrenched flat earthers watching them.

Maturin is Earth's parent and Maturin is very worried with Earth's constant identity changes.

Someone at work was telling me about how the Earth is flat, and some new documentary coming out soon will prove it. I nodded politely because I didn't want to argue, but I don't understand how people can believe this stuff.
