Yes, I know the above is a joke. Likewise, mine is also a joke.
Well, of course, why else do you think Minecraft is so popular? It's because it's actually a retelling of our history. Ever noticed how you can't get a lab coat in vanilla Minecraft? It's symbolic that scientists don't exist & are actually illusions to keep the people in line by saying things that sound reasonable. When everyone believes the same thing, it's not hard to connect their beliefs to new, vaguely-relevant ones that of course help the government in controlling the populace. This way, they make an investment of time for the future, so they won't have to work as hard. Why else do you think space is so popular? It's a vast, frightening unknown that's easy to enchant everyone with. So why is it believed that the Earth is spherical, in that case? Well, a spherical planet means we can operate in a 3D area: we can launch up & down, so that means more spaceships & more astronauts.
They want to keep us on Earth, & to do that, they'll pretend to be successful in space & have all their space-based research come crumbling down in some terrible accident that'll kill all the celebrity astronauts. That way, we'll be too scared to reject their next ideas since we'll find space far more frightening. How does this all tie in to those brilliant flat Earth theories? Well, those fellows are actually more aware of what's going on. They're trying to combat the government's attempts at control in order to free the populace, & the easiest way to do that is to assault the most widely-accepted idea, since defeating that will yield more followers since more people believe in that idea.

They're similiar to the birthers and moon landers. They'll fabricate facts to fit their reality, ignore the evidence in front of them, and act shocked when everyone thinks they're colossal imbeciles.
Their response to Falcon Heavy's launch was a great example. We finally get a live stream of a private company launch something into space. Despite physical evidence of Earth's... rotundness, they still managed some weird logic shift that allows them to continue their reality denying mindset.
I kinda admire em really. It takes real dedication to be this dedicated to something despite reams of evidence stating otherwise.

It boggles the mind how one can be so ignorant and uniformed to believe the Earth is flat. It was known even during the time of Ancient Greece Ptolemy, Aristotle and Pythagoras used calculations of the earth's shadow during lunar eclipses to conclude the Earth was round. Another Greek mathematician Eratosthenes realized the earth was round because during the solstice in Alexandria, Eqypt there was a shadow cast by a stick in the ground but in the city of Syene (now Aswan) which was further south as there was no shadow as the sun was at a different angle. Therefore he concluded the Earth was round. This would not be the case if the Earth was flat.
But some of these people go even further they not only believe the Earth is flat, they don't think satellites or the International Space Station exists, the Apollo landings never happened, the Earth is the center of the universe, and gravity isn't real.
The fact that this movement is growing and people have such ignorance of science and facts is frightening. I would suggest these people visit a museum but they'd probably say its all fake anyway designed to continue deceiving people.
What's your thoughts NSG? Why has this movement been growing and how could someone honestly believe the Earth is flat when its been known for over 2,000 years that its not?
They think gravity isn't real? How do they explain what we call gravity, then?
