I attended a (state-funded) C of E primary school. It was a good school under a later headteacher, but its attitude to other faiths when I was very small was to say "we have to teach you about these other faiths to keep our funding, but they're wrong and we're right". I'm Christian, too (of the dreaded liberal, evolution-accepting "not-a-real-Christian" - as I've been told many times - kind).

And I agree that ACE is possibly one of the worst curricula in the world. Only one of, though. Because there are others that are just as bad. I remember one - I'll try and find it - that says no-one knows how electricity works.

Found it! From a 4th Grade Creationist Science Textbook (research reveals it's Science 4 for Christian Schools from Bob Jones University Press). Excerpt:
Electricity is a mystery. No-one has ever observed it or heard it or felt it... We cannot even say where electricity comes from. Some scientists think the sun may be the source of most electricity. Others think the movement of the Earth produces most of it. All we know is that electricity is everywhere...

Let me clarify something: the ACE school I briefly went to actually used a combo of Bob Jones and ACE (sorry for not specifying earlier; I was on mobile and trying to squeeze in a little NS between classes). They used Bob Jones for math and English. I attended that school for seventh grade only, and the math textbook for seventh grade consisted of material I had learned in the fourth and fifth grades at the previous Christian school I attended, which used Abeka (IDK if I spelled it right). The English textbook was the same.

But that line about electricity... Makes it sound like electricity is magic or something!

I don't know about America, but here in Canada there is a huge difference between what schools say they do and what they actually do.

I don't know about the rest of Canada, but in Alberta curriculum is set and approved by the province, and provincial achievement and diploma exams necessitate that teachers actually follow that curriculum; significant deviation would show in the publicly available results.

For instance, I was educated in the Catholic system and was never exposed to any creationist/FE conspiracy theory nonsense.

Sounds like Alberta has its shit together when it comes to educating all the illiterate cunts of our generation

Googling "Scientist congressman" seems like the place to start. For example: PhD in Physics from Harvard.

So not only are there people who believe the Earth is flat but one of the most prominent Eric Dubay also thinks dinosaurs never existed. How can people be so ignorant? How could you literally concoct an entire species that was dominant on the Earth for almost 160 million years?

And when I see the level of comments and people saying they agreed with him after seeing his videos really does make me wonder if flat Earth is in fact a growing movement

To be fair this movement first was just a meme, but people started taking it seriously.

In capitalism, you pretty much have a 50/50 chance of being rich or poor. In communism, it's 1/99. What makes people think they have the luck/skill to become the 1% if they can't even succeed in a 50/50 society???

Its scary if you ask me. Its basic science and how more and more people can be denying it is frightening.

Donnie's election was like a comet heralding the Moron Pride Movement.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

A tiny fringe movement growing negligible amounts is unconcerning.
Especially since most people don't have a position where their beliefs on the earth and plate tectonics are relevant.

Yeah, if your perspective is that of someone who deep ocean dived into a sea of garbage.
Google searches can be the result of people arguing against or for as well as people who are looking it up for laughs.
Videos are the same, they are made for a multitude of reasons and viewed for a multitude of reasons.
Comments always have been and always will be absolute trash. I strongly discourage you putting any stock in the comment section on YouTube.

Has anyone in Congress ever said they think the Earth is flat and doesn't rotate, dinosaurs dont exist, satellites aren't real, astronauts are actors, and gravity is a unproven theory?

I wonder what they will say about the North Pole now having temps of 27 degrees and all the ice sheet loss there and Greenland?
