I dislike fast food greatly, but once in a great while I sneak off to a Carl's Jr. or Chipolte, but prefer local restaurants, cafes, diners and old style pizzerias. We cannot go out as often but we prefer to eat somewhere better evern if it means only five or six times a year.

I don't have a particular favorite at Chipoltes.

At Carl's Jr. I like the Guacamole Burger, (any Angus beef burger, really). Instead of fries I get a Spicy Chicken Sandwich. If they have a soda water dispenser with their fountain drinks, I will fill the cup with soda water and add lots of lemons, if not Dr. Pepper with lots of lemons.

Jack-In-The-Box used to be on the list but no more. Something happened about a year or two ago where they swapped out the components of their food items. It had the same menu but different patties and buns. The hamburger items became more "slimy" as my niece put it. We haven't been back since.

Red Robin isn't really fast food, but if I want a hamburger (BBQ Burger or Gourmet Cheeseburger) and bottomless fries that is where we go.

Half the fun of my meals is cooking them up.

I prefer the taste of fast food to pretty much anything else so for me it's not a "low effort" "don't care" option but a real treat in the same way an expensive restaurant might be to other people.

KFC is my usual guilty pleasure, and no I can’t narrow that down further. I literally love everything on their menu.

The other day, work put on such a lacklustre lunch that I stopped at McDonalds on the way home. It was the first time I had eaten their non-breakfast menu in years. Had a chicken Big Mac. It tasted better than the beef one, but I think it upset my stomach because I was up half the night and have had no appetite today.

Back when I ate meat, and got pretty stoned most of the time, once.. once in a rare while.. I'd get an entire bucket of KFC to myself, sit on the sofa in boxer shorts and just grease through the lot.. I really had to be in the mood so it was rarely more than once a year but the buzz from the overload of grease and whatever secret ingredients they used as well as being stoned was.. it's good to be a total pig sometimes.

Chuck a shitty light movie into the mix and it was a decent two hour stint.

^This. I'm convinced part of why Americans are so unhappy compared to other developed countries is that they eat like crap and don't take time to appreciate their food.

Not that there's anything wrong with eating at Popeye's or KFC if you have a craving for fried chicken... It just should be an occasional thing, not a substitute for knowing how to cook.

Pope Joan wrote:Taco Bell was for years our family's fine dining experience, every Sunday. A 7 layer burrito would fill you right up. If not, add a crunchy taco and you're good. Skip the drinks, you can quaff more cheaply at home later. Our family of four ate for twelve dollars or less; now that's democracy. And we felt we had taken our place at the table along with more privileged folks.

Another factor is that our daughter would not eat steak even if we could afford it, so this place was ideal for her.

For my family it was Chick-fil-a. That was considered fine dining, Taco Bell was used whenever we needed a bunch of food on the cheap
