Huh, fellow socdem but I find less in common with the left-wing thread than the right-wing one. The left thread is predominantly revolutionary communists and anarchists, while the right one has more people who favour gradual social change and a managed form of capitalism (though also a few ardent free-marketeers).

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
