Don't Trump's golf courses employ large numbers of Hatian seasonal workers?

Don't worry; he probably employs them illegally already, so there'll be no change.

Where was he caught? What video evidence was presented?

Calling someone "racist" also isn't an argument. His move makes sense. The US doesn't need more low-skilled workers when it already has millions.

Honestly, non-arguments like "ur racist" is half why the left lost the last election in the US. Come up with real arguments rooted in evidence. Why should low-skill Haitians continue to be allowed in? What benefit is it to the US?

If every Trump situation is just going to be "hurr he racist cuz I don't have an argument," then we may as well start saying anyone who opposes Trump is antisemitic. Of course, the fact he recognized Jerusalem as capital of Israel and is a supporter of Israel makes all the accusations of he and his followers being racist, fascist nazis all the more amusing. Much of his opposition comes off as having some sort of cognitive dissonance when all they do is call names.

These are literally low-skilled labor visas.

I am no fan of Trump, but low-skill labor visas like H-2A and H-2B are literally for low-skill labor, which if you cry about them says more about you and what you think of Haitians and other sorts of immigrants than it does about Trump, that you think this is proper help, seasonal farm hands for the US at shit wages.

It's more like they don't need Haitians now, Puerto Rico is a mess and an American territory too!

Um... do you think they come here to have a better life as a farm-hand working from sunrise to sundown picking fruit?

I mean, let's be honest, do you consider being a fruit picker a "better life"?

Besides, these are temporary visas, meaning, they go back to Haiti once the season is over.

Maybe they can make their own country better? The US can't take care of the millions of illegals it has now. Burdening it with more low-skill people isn't the solution.

Trump’s decision is unfortunate. HOWEVER, Haiti needs to be fixed. It’s not fair to keep people stuck in low-paying jobs in a foreign country all their lives. A generation of Haitians will be stuck with no job mobility and very few skills for making a decent living. While I don’t expect Trump to do so, humanitarian aid needs to be sent to Haiti, and re-building efforts need to be taken seriously.

You’re talking to someone who came from an immigrant family. I think he gets how that goes better than you.

Random stupidity from trump that should be on the MAGA thread.

Not unexpected but still a dick move. It will damage relations with them and Haiti for almost no reason at all.

The benefits being a slight increase in jobs for Americans? Ok? Still not worth bulling another nation.

Best course of action in terms of improving the lives of Haitians would be to engage in policies that encourage economic investment with the country.

H-2A and H-2B visas usually go to anyone willing to come here to do farm labor seasonally. That can be from an executive to a laborer in the fields. So really, you're talking from no change in lifestyle to a detriment of it.

Immigrants who come to the US have proportionally the same wages than at their homeland nowadays. Before farming used to be quite profitable for seasonal immigrant workers. Nowadays that hasn't held quite true for this particular sector of immigrants anymore.
