That might have something to do with all those threats he's thrown around since the campaign. You know, like when he was pondering whether to allow critical media outlets to retain their licenses, or when he wanted stricter defamation laws to sue the newspapers he hates, or when he "sarcastically" wondered aloud whether he would kill journalists...

What do you find so confusing about this? Trump wants to shut down and sue into oblivion news outlets that publish things he doesn't like. Trump also wants to bask in the praise of media outlets that are friendly to him.

If you'd like I could explain to you the difference between "wants to" and "did", but maybe you'd find it more rewarding to crack open a dictionary and figure it out yourself.
