It does indeed, because there's so much money in it.. the ratings, the advertising.. election reform is possibly the single thing that could clean up politics the most.

Democracy is a circus. That will never change, unfortunately.

I didn't think Obama was on TV before becoming president...

He was a first year senator with little experience. But yeah, he's not a reality TV star even though he sometimes seems to think he is.

So you're bringing up a politician you think had too little political experience to be president in comparison to a talk show host who has no political experience at all. `

Seems like you just want to try and get some digs in on Obama.

If Oprah did run I imagine the fact she's a TV star with no political experience would rank quite high as there's not much else one could charge her with.. for Trump that would be way down the list compared to all the other reasons people dislike him.

I mean, even Obama, what were the charges, little political experience, not born in America, probably a commie or a muslim or both, of which most weren't even true.

Trump on the other hand..

Now do I think that government funded health care would be great? Yes I do.
Do I think Sanders Medicare for all is a good plan? No I do not.

We need to keep the multi payer system it has helped us to be one of the most efficient health care systems in the world. Now multi payer doesn’t mean no government funding. Many nations in Europe are multi payera dn they have government funded healthcare.

We should follow the german method of having 60/40 with 60% of the bill paid by the government and the rest paid by private insurance companies

I get your ideas and anecdotes, but we were talking about the popularity of progressive policies and the viability of left-wing populist candidates. And here you have a left-wing populist who has remained consistently popular throughout this year, surpassing his centrist peers, and at least one of his policies have majority support among American voters.

...I don't see an anecdote in there...

Now as someone who almost voted Bernie, even I was aware that at MOST, he could have caused a split in the votes between himself and Hillary. That's it. Not enough Democrats are going to go after someone who basically amounts to a renegade. Maybe in the future, as the party evolves, but Hillary was an establishment candidate, and most people would rather the establishment than a renegade.

Well she was friends with Weinstein.. Trump is Weinstein.. I'd think it hard for Trump to lay that charge on her.. though god knows he would and god knows it would shift the media debate into 'what's worse, to be friends with sexual predator or to be a sexual predator.. you decide!'

Stop lying. He was a state senator from 1997 to 2004, and a US senator from 2005-2008, before we even mention his legal career.
