Ah yes, the 'lets pretend racism has no legacy and ended in some nebulous time and it's all okay now.'

I'm not going to play the "I'm not racist YOUR racist" game because it's dumb.

There is a history of unrest, oppression, riots, abuses, and neglect that indicate that it absolutely matters to have the people in power come from the communities they preside over, and the effects of not doing that are still felt today.

Play your name game. I don't care. I've read a history book or two, kept up on current events...not going to really care if someone desperate to score some political points takes the easy way out.

Okay friendo, keep judging people based off melanin content. Because that's not racist at all...

It's only an issue if you're a racist.

That looking glass world where recognizing a racial issue is racist.

Almost as stupid as thinking you get to 92% white nominees on 'merit'.

92% of """qualified""" conservative judge candidates are white men? Who ever would guessed? Clearly its a conspiracy.

You know who best represents your views or at the very least best understands your experiences? Someone from your community.

But that’s exactly the game you’ve been playing with everyone. When you’re spending posts screeching about white people getting elected, and then you respond to someone clearly calling you out on the game, you’re playing the game. And you can choose to quit and go to bed any time you want. Vote for the people you want to vote for, who you think will change the community. Don’t screech if that person happens to be a skin color you don’t like.

No one is saying that. What they are saying is when all you nominate is white men in a country that is rapidly diversifying its a major issue. What does that say to a child in say Atlanta or Birmingham?

Why do you think black kids are incapable of looking up to non-black leaders as inspirations? Should Carl Sagan not have been able to inspire Neil deGrasse Tyson? Or Isaac Newton for Sylvester James Gates?

Not even. I live in Olympia and my reps absolutely do not understand my experiences or represent my views. Not even close.

I didn't say that. when you have judges being nominated who want to go back to the 1950s or earlier I dont think that gives young woman or non whites someone to look up to.

The personal attacks and shit posting in this thread are getting out of hand. I think I'm going to end it this iteration of the thread here. Let's all try to start the next thread on a clean slate and avoid the personal attacks, and blatant ignoring of other posters.
