I think the odd aspect of this presidency is how much is based simply on his Twitter account, seems the past few weeks someone got a degree of control on it and he's been relatively sane but these past couple of days he's gone off the edge again. His approval seems to essentially rise and fall against the sanity of his tweets.

It also drops during indictments.

Seriously, though, I'm not sure how this will turn out for Bannon and Trump. It may all boil down to whether the lion's share of Trump's base (or at least his more militant base) are primarily ideologues or cultists. If the majority care more about ideology and policies than they do about Trump as their leader, Trump's fighting with Bannon is not going to end well for him.
