You can get that sort of reaction from literally anything that makes you release endorphins.

I would love to see some scientific proof for this. Provide your citations or concede.

And how is this a bad thing? Seriously, make your argument why it is bad if the person is still getting the satisfaction he wants.
And by that logic, how is any other simulator activity not bad? After all, playing a driving game makes me too lazy to become a race car driver. And playing a flight simulator makes me too lazy to buy and pilot an aircraft. Are those evil as well?

But we need objective morality, damn it! How else will we know what's good and bad for us?

Kennlind wrote:I originally asked this question back in July, but here goes again.
Pornography, as the dictionary puts it, is "printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate sexual excitement." It's one of the most common forms of entertainment in the world. What's so bad about entertainment? Why should we ban it? Well my case is that Pornography has far more negatives than positives to it, such as;

-It creates emotional bond with artificial world

No it doesn't.
-It results in a short term high, eventually results in feelings of emptiness, low self-esteem and deep loneliness, similar to drugs

No it doesn't.
-Means you can’t get aroused by just your spouse

No it doesn't.
-Porn wrecks your libido

No it doesn't.
-Porn makes you sexually lazy

No it doesn't.
-Makes regular intercourse seem mundane

No it doesn't.
-Makes it difficult to last long during sex

No it doesn't.

In all honesty, I want to crack down on it from a Biblical, moral perspective. And before any smartass opponent to this brings up something "bad" in the Bible, I don't care. Pornography destroys love,

No it doesn't.
it makes people reliant on sex and on hedonism to feel enjoyment.

No it doesn't.
And this enjoyment, is not really enjoyment. It's a respite from a lack of enjoyment.

No it's not.
Like said above, it's similar to, if not a mental variant of, drugs. You can get addicted, it can give you mental and emotional problems etc.

You can get addicted to anything.

There are far, far more and one I would like to go into detail more is it's addictiveness. A porn addiction can be worse than a drug addiction or an alcohol addiction. It can ruin your life, your marriage and other relationships. According to SAGU (source)

Source disregard for obvious bias.

How many kids watch porn?? There is very few effective methods to stop children from accessing porn without downright censoring their internet use. The only way I can see that we cure this is an outright banning of porn.

Like I told you last time, banning porn is censoring the internet.
What do you think?

I think that if you wanted to get told how wrong you are for thirty pages you could have just read the last thread again.
Should we ban porn?

No.

Based on my experience, that is wrong, very wrong. I like pornography, but my partner alone can easily have the same effect.

Kenn basically messed this one up. Assuming your looking at rather super sexy woman compared to your IRL wife. Your arousal may tend to be more difficult to activate requiring more "arousing" scenery to boot it up. Ofcourse this is based upon your sex drive, woman your looking at on the we, and overal preferences, so its unknown how effective it is, but it does exist.

Honestly, I've never even heard of that happening in any kind of a professional context.

I've heard of boxers killing each other, but never porn actors.

As someone with zero interest in porn myself...

Against banning it. Need some sauce for those claims in the OP. Besides which, anything can be taken to an unhealthy extreme, whether it's consumption of porn, drugs, video games, gambling, eating, shopping, etc. "It is addictive" is a shitty excuse to ban anything. I would rather see the industry exist with suitable safety regulations to prevent exploitation and abuse, with taxes paid into the system.

Porn can be enjoyed without causing unhealthy effects (for both those who produce it and those who watch it.) Some couples even watch porn together. Sometimes just to laugh at how cheesy it is, sometimes to get some creative ideas. Just like most anything else, when used in moderation (as opposed to in Moderation! ;P ) it's not going to hurt anything.

What did OP mean by this?

I'd vote heavily against it myself, not only because enforcing the ban is a fruitless endeavor, but also because there's nothing inherently wrong with it. The ailments you described could easily be fixed with proper mental healthcare and healthy interpersonal relationships, which is admittedly easier said than achieved under the current economic system.
